@JulesSheah To satisfy my own curiosity - can we have a photo of whats inside what I think is the gas meter box. You should be able to open it with a standard triangular key available from hardware stores and the DIY sheds.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1

I'm sure the answer to this is going to be "Well of COURSE I have" but just in case, you have explored the deepest, darkest recesses of the cupboard under the stairs - if you have one - or other similar nooks and crannies, haven't you?

I ve never seen that happen with the larger estates new builds, but in 20 years reading meters I ve certainly had to search around for an hour sometimes to locate gas meters..eg, above the hallway ceiling foxed me behind pictures hung up in main lounge , and in a tunnel outside which went under the property . One in particular took longer when the new tenants had given up turned out that it had been removed and the supply capped .The OP on this post has had 8 year to trace a gas pipe to where ever its exiting .Give me an hour and I will find itSandtree said:
Is nice in theory but in practice builders do odd things at time... we all have our gas meters in an underground box by our front door other than one property which has theirs above ground and at the edge of their property (all are otherwise identical designs). Similarly all of our electricity meters are in a cabinet in the common hallway other than one property in the middle (a different one to the gas) where their's is in the communal waste area instead.... if it had been number 12s it'd made some sense as they neighbour it but no, its 9 and 12s is in the cupboard at the other end of the building with the rest of ours.JulesSheah said:
My friend has the same design of house as me and where I have the flat panel he has the gas meter, so logically that is where it should be.

Not 100% sure which "that" you are referring to but this is a block of 36 flats where the first layer are maisonettes with their own doors to the street hence gas meters by their door... I have no idea where the gas meters are for the higher floors. Most the electric meters are within one cupboard in random order but 4 are in the bin room of which three are marked as Freeholder and one is marked Flat 9SAC2334 said:

@Sandtree - I believe what @SAC2334 is saying the generally on estates the meter positions are agreed for each specific house type - semi, detached, terraced or maisonette. If they are built in phases then there can be revisions.
We await with interest what the OP finds.. I still want to know what (if anything) is in that meter box.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
