    Welcome back.
In those 3 1/2 weeks have you managed to look behind this panel?

  • Without using brute force it does not come off
  • Am currently on phone to Eon, who have helpfully just told me the gas meter should be outside, having already explained I know where it should be as friend has exactly same design as mine

    Fair enough.
When is your boiler service due? You can ask your Gas Safe fitter to trace the pipework and help you find the meter.

Can you take  a photo of the inside of the other meter box please - the one that, in my experience, is a standard gas meter box . - deeper than the electric, shaped door, rigid pipe going into it on the outside of the wall rather than up the cavity.

I don't think you've said where your electric meter is .

What are you asking Eon to do?  They probably only have records of the meter serial number and date installed. DO not expect them to say "in the kitchen  - under the sink"

  • I have an engineer from Eon coming in 15 (now 14) business days.  I have also contacted the builder of my house (Barrett) to see if they have a record of where it is.
My electricity meter is outside my back door on the wall.  The gas meter should be on the opposite side but I just have a flat panel where it ought to be.  My friend has the same design of house as me and where I have the flat panel he has the gas meter, so logically that is where it should be.

Is nice in theory but in practice builders do odd things at time... we all have our gas meters in an underground box by our front door other than one property which has theirs above ground and at the edge of their property (all are otherwise identical designs). Similarly all of our electricity meters are in a cabinet in the common hallway other than one property in the middle (a different one to the gas) where their's is in the communal waste area instead.... if it had been number 12s it'd made some sense as they neighbour it but no, its 9 and 12s is in the cupboard at the other end of the building with the rest of ours.
