Thanks lady wap 🙂
Well the test results came back and I can’t really make out if it’s all clear or not 😩 took a copy to my gp today and they rang later to say book an appointment but routine, so hopefully that’s good. I’ve a private follow up one Monday so hopefully they can shed more light, there is mention of a heart scan, hopefully I won’t need that or else that will have to be private to to not mess up the holiday for everyone, fingers crossed.Went to ikea with a friend this morning instead of the usual coffee shop and had a small cooked breakfast and hot drink each for a total of £2.60! Ended up spending £12.60 top though, on a frying pan, plant, mustard colour table runner, washing up refil brush thingy, and a wooden spoon - not bad 😂
Plans for this weekend are try and relax and maybe as usual go the cinema if dh is off.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5 -
Well the weather has turned here after a lovely day yesterday and it’s raining again and I have more washing and nowhere to dry it as others are using the heated airer, will have to let it pile up a bit longer maybe! Yesterday we went out early with ds2 who passed his driving test this week to look at a car which he ended up buying.Strictly speaking he doesn’t need a car and was very much in two minds about spending all that money, he’s very frugal and saves most of his wages as is his wife, but realistically they won’t be able to move out for many years unless they move to another part of the country which although they accept they may have to they both don’t want. So they are probably long term lodgers. He did ask my opinion and I said I think it would be good for him to have a car and a bit more independence, worst case scenario he can sell it after a year. So he spent £1125 on a little pop pop blue four door which had just had a new clutch/exhaust and tyres and about the same on insurance 😱
He’s over the moon with it and spent the day cleaning it, dh took him out and bought him a new Bluetooth stereo as it has a cassette player and didn’t even have a cigarette lighter to charge your phone 😆 I feel a bit like maybe we should have bought his first car, but then we would need to give the others the same, so we didn’t and will help them out again more once we are mortgage free.
We now have a collection of three very old tiny blue cars in our house, lowering the tone of the neighbourhood as usual 😬
Probably off to the cinema today, in ds2’s car no doubt, I’d also like to try and get the boys together as they are still not speaking to each other over what should have been a minor fall out, not good for them or my stress levels and it’s been going on for too long ☹️I’ve also a confession to make, I’ve failed at my no new purchases challenge I started at the end of November 🙄 I bought a long plain sweatshirt and a long zip up hoodie as I couldn’t find what I wanted second hand, I’ve also ordered some comfy (I hope) sandals
for holiday, although I have a few summer flats they are all cheap ones that are more for fashion than walking. No doubt there will be a few other bits I buy now, however there has been a massive change in how I look at clothes and what I buy, second hand is better in almost every instance and channels you to buy what you are seeking out rather than what you come across that looks pretty in a shop and that you didn’t know you wanted. So although it’s a fail I hope it’s a positive long term change.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁4 -
It sounds like DH can finally see the end in sight - that help towards the mortgage was lovely to read about! (Just catching up!)
Hopefully the bits you've bought are good quality and will last too, NG. I'm glad you've found that your perspective has changed - long may it continue.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Congratulations on the op! Hope your partner is okay, it seems like he's working so much.
Yarn is very expensive! If you do fancy knitting more regularly, I get most of mine from carboots and charity shops.
Buying a car for one of your kids is nice but I bet he feels brilliant having bought it himself. I was genuinely so proud that this is my car that I bought with my money when I got my first one.
Hope you're feeling okay!3 -
Oops lost a long post!Dh is ok thanks Kp, as long as he does wind down the work when we are mortgage free 🙄
Seem like the results i got today are so far nothing too worrying, but they did recommend an echocardiogram (and blood tests which my gp said I can do after holiday) I’ve another nhs gp appointment Thursday which I was told to keep by the receptionist do discuss the results so I’ll wait and see what happens then. If I am told I need the echo then we will have to pay I think to get the results back in time.I’ve just been to the cinema to see Imaginary which was actually much more enjoyable than expected, expectations were low but it was ok, ds2 drove me too which was slightly less nerve wracking than yesterdays trip so hopefully he’s getting the hang of it now 😁MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁4 -
I’m not very organised tracking the finances this week, I will have to have a look later and see the damage. Yesterday my gp said I would have to be referred for an Echo heart scan, so I booked a private one for today as being in a waiting list would mean basically no holiday insurance 😩 so another £340 spent on that and a follow up private gp appointment for the results next week (my gp doesn’t have appointments until after we have left) she doesn’t think it’s anything to be too worried about though, fingers crossed.
I went to the cinema again last night - the fourth time since Sunday 😆 getting plenty of value from the £19.40 a month cost as full price tickets are on average £12.99 on a weekday. We will probably go at the weekend again to see ghostbusters 😬

Thanks guys, find out weds/Thursday the results. My dads had taken 10mins a couple of years ago but mine was nearly an hour plus she asked a few questions so my mind is very much not at rest yet 😩
We had dd and hubby round last night, id not been shopping and was shattered and unorganised so dh bought everyone chips for tea, he’s claiming it cost him £40 with two mushy peas and gravy and buying some mayo but surely that can’t possibly be right for just chips for six he must be exaggerating 😱
We went out for breakfast at costa today to get out for a bit and then did a top up shop with a few more Easter eggs which came to £82.62 which is more than I had left available on the grocery cc 😳 I need to check the accounts and do some juggling around now I think….MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁2 -
Oh I hope you'll be okay. I will be thinking of you !
Can't believe how much your chippy was! Mine is £5.60 for large chips and a sausage.2
