Thank you for the kind wishes everyone, it was ok, went to see a rather rubbish film then tried to get in N@ndo’s and couldn’t get in so drove to another one and ate there, in my mind it was a lot nicer than in reality, busy and noisy 😆 £55 spent of the £50 fun budget for March for dh, ds2 and I to eat.Dd came over and bought me a (tv) Hannibal themed bag from comic con she had just been to, she’s crossing off dr who actors and yesterday had a photo with Billy piper and a Tom Baker Tardis, so she was happy.Dh very kindly bought me an velvetiser (a posh hot chocolate maker) however I try to avoid chocolate now as it can make me ill sometimes, so I’m taking it back 🙄 if it was a bit cheaper I might had kept it to use occasionally, but it’s pricey and so are the refills. Got a couple of nice skirts from best friend and a few other bits and bobs and some money I’m not sure what to do with yet.Today we have lunch round mums, everyone is going and family tensions between my some of my kids are at an all time high, so I’m not as keen as I would usually be! Flipping kids. Also this week I’m round mums twice a day to feed the cat from hell - she’s getting more aggressive as she gets bigger 😱 and attempt to put ear drops in both ears which is a nightmare.Off to visit the in-laws soon as it’s mil’s birthday, wearing my lovely ecg monitor, what with the kids and the in-laws today it may well go into overdrive 😂MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6

I'm sorry tensions are at a high. Hopefully this will calm down soon. I think nandos can be great, did you enjoy yourself!
Shame about the velvetiser, is there nothing else you can use it for?2 -
Thanks kp, the food was nice but it was very busy and noisy 😆
I’m going to take it back if dd has the receipt, the refills are very £££ as well.I’ve booked another holiday 😱 it’s for after the mortgage is cleared -well just about, the balance is due the month before. It’s a two week cruise in the September, there was on offer for onboard credit that ended two days ago. We usually book a saver cabin but have gone for the dearer choose your own price as it has free parking and £110 credit which worked out less, so we can move it if we need to on this fare. Dh said he will pay the deposit as part of my 50th. Depending on the type of cruise it’s usually much cheaper to book in advance and it’s the one we were doing for dh’s 50th which we cancelled as it was
going to Russia, it’s a similar itinerary anyway.I don’t want to tempt fate but it s starting to feel like a real possibility that we will finally pay the mortgage off next year, it’s been 14 years since I started the original diary 😱 I think at that point it was a 33 year remaining mortgage that we had already had for 9 years! (It had been extended by term and amount many times!) I’ve no idea what we will do with the extra money once we do pay it off though, that’s probably something we should start thinking about soon so we are both on the same page, probably a car then home repairs I would imagine😆MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁8 -
Busy day indoors today, somehow I’ve done over 11k steps pottering about 😆 all my washing is done although not dry still, bed changed, meters read, plus a bit of cleaning and clothes sorting. I’ve sold another couple of items today, total now a frustrating £299! 35 items sold so far and lots still left although nothing worth much expect one bag that’s being reviewed to be listed as it’s a posh make.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁3

Has it really been 14 years? That's incredible. You've basically paid off two mortgage in this time!1

Time has flown by KP, it’s probably the only thing I’ve ever stuck at 😆
Had a chat with dh last night about what we might do with more money when it’s paid off, he’s got a lot more keen since we are getting closer to the end now 😂 I’m not sure our allocation ideas are on the same page but we have a long time to work that out, it kind of feels like its free money to blow but the reality is there’s a lot we should have been paying for and haven’t, like home repairs and a new car.Plans for today are see best friend, get a Mother’s Day gift for my mum, make a Thai green curry, post vinted parcels, get all the washing dry and put away and feed mums cat as they are in York.I’m also wondering when the best time to start planting my herb garden is? I’d like to do what I did years ago and have a small table or shelf outside with some not too small pots of herbs, probably last time they were from the supermarket, but I’m guessing the garden centre or B&Q for more established plants might be better, I might need to source a small table to put them on as that work quite well last time, when is the time right to plant out though?MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁2 -
It depends on the herbs - rosemary, sage, thyme, bay are all hardy, but parsley, coriander, basil you’ll need to wait until the risk of frosts has passed, so May. You could sow seeds for them now though and keep inside on a sunny windowsill. Basil needs humidity to germinate - wrap the pot in a clear plastic bag. Once it’s germinated you can remove the bag.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

How wonderful to see your mortgage finish line ! 33 years to 14 ..
Hope your heart is feeling better and nothing serious
happy belated birthday/ I always find birthday meals best in places where it’s either food where the chefs can cook it better than I with better ingredients such as Indian, Japanese etc or if it’s super clever food where I am not going to spend the time making the food look that goodI am so looking forward to having a garden and having a herb patch - it’s my first thing - followed by tomatoes!DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
