Hope you've managed to have a good break so far, sounds really busy.

Agree shopping and fuel prices are crazy, after I've been away this weekend a real attempt to stick to a budget!

  • Morning all.

Money, money, money that's all that seems to be swirling around my head at the moment, had a couple of extra bits to pay out for that i'd forgotten about, but have used savings so that pot is down £80 but i have savings and thats a positive.
£40 in from some survey sites so that has gone straight off CC and received a £5 m&s voucher, i have listed an item on ebay so hope fully that will sell.
Ordered a book from Whsm1ths that i've been wanting for a while, one of the little ones i work with got me a £10 gift voucher as an end of year present, so have used that and only had to put £2 towards it.
Keeping a close eye on food costs and making sure we use everything up, seems to have lots of bits in the freezer which will get used up but i refuse to waste anything. Blackberries are starting to ripen so ive been picking some everyday when walking the dogs and freezing, i will use these over winter in yoghurt or porridge.
DH wants a bbq for tea as its nice here today, we don't use charcoal as we are fortunate enough to have wood for free so we always cook on a real fire,we tend to cook on oak or cedar and gives meat a lovely flavour.
Washing is on and will be pegged out shortly and planning a quiet day in the garden reading a book.

    Have a good day xx
  • Happy saturday

Top up shop this morning and £40 spent, having another BBQ tonight, just need to make some garlic potatoes and a salad to go with the meat.
£15 in from survey site so that has gone straight off the CC.
Everyone is working this afternoon so i'm going to chill outside and read a book.

    xx

Top up shops are costing more these days, I popped this morning and spent £45 on bits and pieces. Hoping not to shop again till next weekend.

Hope you enjoyed the peace and quiet this afternoon.xx

  • Morning all.

Mortgage went out yesterday and another £100 overpayment, so need to update sig.

Did another small shop yesterday mainly fruit and salad bits, we are eating loads at the minute and it adds up, at least in the winter we tend to eat carrots/cabbage and apple/pears which are much cheaper. Spent £20 in sainsbugs and braved technology and downloaded the smartshop app, was ok and just scanned and bagged as i went along, i also got 1000points for trying it out which means £5 of free food when it hits nectar account.

I've chucked some chicken, chorizo, past best veggies and tinned toms in the slow cooker with some garlic and smoked paprika and called it spanish chicken, will add some rice later and that will be tea sorted.

I'm currently thinking about getting winter ready, DH brought home more wood yesterday so the wood shed is filling up, i'm bidding on a pair of thermal backed curtains on ebay for the Living room. I need to get a blind for the kitchen we have never bothered with one as we are rural and not overlooked at the back of the house, but think it will help keep that room warmer in winter, also made a list of winter clothes i need such as fleece pjs, thermal leggings and long sleeved tops for layering.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sun xx
  • The nectar app should also offer items which are considerably (20p - £1) cheaper to buy when you use the smart shop app. Its worthwhile checking out these offers before your Sains shop in the future

I’m starting prepping for winter. Seems it’s going to be horrendous come the new year according to the newspapers. Will stock up on firewood, tins of food and any other essential items that are easy to store. Even if it doesn’t get as bad as they are predicting, all the food and essentials will be used and not wasted. I used to keep a good stock of food which came in handy when we went into the lockdown.xx
