Well i've been missing for a few months so i've decided a new shinyndiary is needed, also the title of my last diary couldn't have been further from the truth (2020 a year to be mindful  :D).

Life has been hectic the last few months, more hours at work, new puppy, DD starting uni but still living at home. DS past his driving test  :#. DH is working flat out and seems to be permanently exhausted and stressed. After the leak at the rental property the boiler went kaput in November in a major way which resulted in a new boiler and a couple of new radiators needed, this cost just over £4000 and completely wiped out our savings, which then left nothing in the pot for christmas which has mainly gone on a CC that now needs to be paid off as its not on 0%.

The following is a headdump so bare with me -

CC1 19%(christmas) £894
CC2 0% April £2917
So plan is to pay off CC1 asap, then pay as much as possible off CC2 and then hopefully balance transfer.

Mortgage is currently at a low rate of 1.64% which is locked in until may 2026, balance is £69,996 and if we pay just our monthly payments we will have paid it off in 11 years 6 months, but we want it gone in the next 6 years so that DH can work less hours which will make DH 51.

Savings are currently £0, not good at all, plan is to have £2000 in an emergency fund.

Goals for 2022 -
Pay and extra £2000 above min payments off CCs
Mortgage overpayments £3600
Savings £2000

Other things -

I have worked out i have about 4 months of dog food as i stocked up on a good offer before Christmas, but i'm going to save amazon vouchers from surveys to hopefully pay for the next lot.
Going to use survey and ebay money to overpay CCs.
Have done a wardrobe sort out and really need some long sleeved neutral tops, new underwear is needed and as pupster destroyed one of my loafers i need a new pair but can wait until spring as i tend to wear boots to work in winter. All of these i want to fund from M&S voucher from surveys.
Desperate for a good declutter but decs are still up and i'm struggling to focus on what needs doing, but plan to get rid of 100 items this year.

January is supposed to be a frugal month but we do have a few things on, Dh and i have a gift voucher for a local restaurant that needs using, we have a weekend away booked but have £200 put away for this, cottage is paid for so just eating out to cover. DD and i have theatre tickets for the 16th (i think) may go for a pizza before the show.

Pay day today and food shop done, only £45 as we have quite a lot let from christmas, have also done a boots order using £20 of points so shouldn't need any toiletries in January.

There is probably loads more that i have forgotten, going to go and balance up bank accounts ready for the New year.

Great aims, what survey sites do you use? I’m looking to find as many ways to save the pennies as possible!

  • Well i'm all on my own (except for the doggo's) DD and DS are partying and DH is at work but has promised he will be back before midnight, he was supposed to be off tonight as he worked christmas but his boss fell over and broke his arm badly  and ended up going in for surgery yesterday.

So i'm sat on the sofa with a bottle of red left over from Christmas, I've had a frugal tea of scrambled eggs on toast (sick of rich food) and i'm going to watch Spectre shortly and i feel so chilled out and relaxed  :).
