Morning all, spent the weekend feeling dreadful and stayed at home so didn't do anything but watch the jubilee celebrations on the TV, still have awful cough which is keeping me awake at night and i'm back to work tomorrow and don't feel as though i have achieved anything on my week off.
So finances have taken a hit the last few days, spent more money on food as i just couldn't be bothered to think about cooking so DH went and bought some M&S meal deals and snacks, I decided to use some savings to pay off DS suit as it was bugging me, once that CC was clear i paid for our Scotland holiday on it, i do have the money put aside for this holiday and will pay it off as soon as it is showing on the card i just wanted peace of mind that it's paid on a CC if something happens. Bought new dog clippers as old pair died and wouldn't charge up. I need to do a check of accounts and have a reckoning up do as my Yorkshire born FIL would say. I'm also thinking i'm going to have to up my fuel budget by £5 a week but this might not impact until September as i only have 3 weeks in June to pay for, then i'm only at work 3 weeks in July then we break up for the summer and i'm off all of August and will try and only use the car a couple of times a week.
On a positive the mortgage has gone out today and the regular £100 monthly overpayment so we are another month closer to mortgage freedom.
Off to check accounts.1 -
Sorry to hear you're still feeling unwell.
I always pay for holidays and big purchases via CC then pay off when it hits the balance. It's added protection should anything go wrong, plus it earns me points for my magazine subscription.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1 -

Reckoning up of accounts done and not as bad as i imagined, although i have dropped grocery budget down from £100 to £75 for the next few weeks, it should be doable as we have a fair bit in the freezer and i won't need cleaning stuff as i did a bulk shop at B&M last week, might need laundry liquid towards the end of the month, will try and use it sparingly.

A quick catch up on surveys whilst having lunch and i have redeemed a £5 amaz0n voucher, also picked salad leaves to have with lunch from the garden, small wins.1

I allow £75 a week for groceries for 3 adults, 2 cats and 1 dog. It seems to be adequate at the moment although adult 3 (DD) buys a lot of her own food and I don’t eat meat which helps greatly.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Morning all, got to end of the week ok,still feeling off but hoping a lazy weekend will help.
On the way home from work yesterday i called into lidl and spent £32, i did a mealplan and shopping list on Thursday evening, trying to use up what we have in rather than buying more. 5 of us over the weekend as DD boyfriend is staying so tonight we are having chicken wraps, chips and salad, i found a tub of choc brownies and a tub of banana bread in the freezer so have that for snacks/dessert, also have a couple of tubs of icecream. I've taken some stewing steak out of the freezer and will bulk it out with veggies and make a pie for tomorrows tea. Brought some tomatoes home from work that wouldn't have lasted till Monday will have with scrambled eggs at lunchtime.
I'm not going to use my car at all this weekend to save fuel, there is nowhere i need to go and i'm really trying to organise myself so that any errands are done on my way home from work.
Finances are ticking along, another £5 amazon voucher redeemed and added to the pot.
Now all this years holidays are paid for DH and i have been talking about booking somewhere abroad next year for the 2 of us, need to sit and talk to DD as she will be in charge of the animals so needs to be when she is not on her uni placements as she works long shifts, also need to save some money in the holiday pot to pay for it.
Hope everyone is ok xx
