Spendy day so far, nipped to post office and sent ebay parcel, nipped into charity shop next door and bought 2 dresses , a pair of work trousers and 2 cake tins total came to £18, dresses are gorgeous and fit perfectly, one i will wear for work the other is more dressy and i'm saving it for when we go to Italy next year. Also spent £16 in Mr S on a top up shop.

Got home and decided to have a look online for some new sketchers, these are my favourite footwear and my current trainers are close to wearing through the soles have gone smooth, found some on M&Mdirect so have ordered those along with 2 fleece hoodies, a pair of leggings and a pair of joggers spent £75, which i didn't think was too bad.

    Sent £120 0verpayment to CC.

Hi hope you have got some answers from your blood tests and you're feeling a bit better?

Sounds like you've had a busy time!

  • Afternoon, we are back from our holiday and i know need to get myself back into moneysaving and work mode.

Trying to get my head into work mode and gearing up for a tough year ahead, i have to keep telling myself that there is only so much i can do. School is already talking about cutbacks and how there is no money etc etc. Children are going to suffer and it's going to be heartbreaking, parents are already struggling and it's going to get worse as we go into winter, We have families that are living in 1 room in B&Bs because there is no housing or they can't afford the rent, children that will come to school hungry and then are expected to concentrate and learn, children that are cold at home and then come to school wet and cold because there parent can't afford coats and appropriate footwear.  How as teaching staff are we supposed to deal with this day in day out and it not effect our mental health, when you work with children you care about them and i frequently go home and worry about certain families. Sorry i'm going on but i feel quite angry that this country is what it is.

Deep breath and back to what i can control, so did a big shop £100 budget for the week and spent £88 so £12 left which i will use if we need any top up bits during the week, anything left will be rolled over to next week to bulk buy bit to go in the frezer or any decent whoops offers. did get some good reduced bakery items this week in Mr T and also went to B00ths and found some packs of butter reduced from £2 down to £1.40 not mega savings but got 4 and popped them in the freezer, also got 3 family sized chicken and leek pies reduced from £5 each to £2.75 so they have also gone into the freezer.

Neal yards sent me a voucher for £10 off a £30 spend so have used that and ordered a couple of christmas presents, Joules sent me a £10 voucher with no minimum spend bought some soaps to go away for christmas presents, also spotted some fleecy pjs and a stripy top perfect for work in the sale so bought those as well but they came out of personal spends not christmas budget.

Picked up some reduced mushrooms yesterday so going to use those to make a mushroom carbonara for tea as its just me and DH tonight, also got a bottle of wine that DS won in the local pub quiz, hope fully it will taste ok.

Skechers are my favourite trainers too. Sounds like you’re getting very organised with the money off vouchers. I’m back at work Monday after 2 weeks off and trying to psych myself up for it 😬

  • Evening, well i have survived 2 days back at work, children are lovely and most seem to have had a nice summer, school politics continue and i'm just keeping my head down.

Had a couple of spends, £7 on entering an agility competition for little doggo, small top up shop of fruit and milk and found some good bread whoopsies spent £12.51 so that's this weeks grocery budget maxed out, new week starts Friday. £25 petrol into car another downside to be back at work is fuel costs.
Neighbour has giving me a bag of apples from her tree so they have been stewed up and put in the freezer.
Joules order has been delivered and i love my new PJs, lovely and snuggly.

  • Evening, home alone tonight so just had a jkt spud and beans for tea, also did a jkt each for me and DH for lunch tomorrow.
mortgage has gone out today including £100 overpayment and Sold an item on ebay so sent £5 to CC.

I’ve now received a £10 voucher from Joules so will utilise it. I’ve survived 3 days back at work now and it’s not been too bad at all. Like you there are the politics that come with working in the public sector 😬

  • Thanks SA, sometimes i think the children are more mature than the adults.

Well done on getting the voucher as well, I think they have just started a 25% off all Joules items so you might need to wait until that has ended i have found they are really strict and can never use offers together.
  • Hello all, busy couple of weeks since i last posted. It is feeling so much cooler in a morning and evening and is starting to feel autumnal, I lit the woodburner on Friday evening as i was cold, CH is staying off for as long as possible, DD has bought me primani's version of an oodie, it is so warm and snuggly and i think i will be living in it over winter. TD is also only being used once a week for towels, the sunny days are helping to get the washing dry long may it continue.

Doggo got a 3rd in her agilty comp which was really good considering it was somewhere she hadn't been before and there was lots of new smells and distractions.

I have kept up with trying to buy offers to freeze/store and use at a later date, got some reduced chicken thighs this week which will do for a casserole in the next couple of weeks, also got some cif antibac spray cleaner reduced down to 75p not sure why it was that price but snaffled the last 2 bottles. I have been gifted so much produce this last week 9kg of apples, 6kg of plums,3kg of damsons and 1kg of tomatoes, all the fruit has been stewed up and frozen and half of the apples i made in to 4 crumbles and frozen, the tomatoes i added garlic, onions and herbs to make a base for pasta sauces, also brought home 6 bananas from work which were heading for the bin and made those into banana bread. The freezer is now groaning it is so full but all the free fruit means i will not need to buy as much over the next few months saving us money on the grocery bill which can be spent on stocking up on other things, i will use the fruit up in plain  yoghurt and overnight oats/porridge.

Work is insanely busy and we are understaffed, i have been having serious discussions with DH about me handing my notice in at the end of this academic year, lots of things going on and for the pay it's just not worth it.

Few more bits to list on ebay/vinted but might do that tomorrow.

I'm sure lots more has been happening, but my brain is frazzled at the minute.
