  • Afternoon all,

Slow cooker is on again today this time with a leg of lamb cooking away, yesterday's soup has been portioned up, 4  portions into fridge for lunches this week, then another 8 portions gone into the freezer for work lunches.
Sold an item on ebay overnight, £15 to CC when it hits account. I will post tomorrow and will also have to nip to the supermarket as i forgot to buy cooking oil and teabags yesterday.

Starting on DS bedroom tomorrow, i've just about got it emptied, tomorrow me and DH will start stripping the walls and cleaning the woodwork.
  • It’s worth keeping an eye on your Amazon personalised promotions page. I regularly get £5 vouchers from them in there. By regularly I meant once every 2/3 months

  • Afternoon.

It has been busy week getting on top of the housework and decorating DS room, its not finished but is getting there.

I was supposed to be going out for a meal with a friend  yesterday, unfortunately she has got covid which seems to be rife again, so evening at home with hubby,I put £50 into holiday pot since i cooked  even though i was tempted to get a takeaway in.
It's been a spendy few days, started Christmas shopping did a huge food shop and stocked up the freezer, nipped to M&S to pick up some items i had ordered and claimed the free bananas i had on my sparks card, also nipped into greggs to get the free hot drink and bake that was on the app.

Not sure i'm going to hit my goals by the end of the year but i've given it a good go, I need to get all the Christmas shopping done and then go back to overpaying once that is out of the way.
  • any progress towards goals is progress Penny! You’ve still moved further than where you started.

  • Howdy folks, seems ages since i last did an update, lots of things have happened in the last couple of months.....
Work came to a head and i had a bit of a breakdown at work, (this was probably the best thing that could have happened) verbally gave my notice in and then suddenly people higher up took notice. It has ended positively i am now being payed properly for the role i do but also the main thing is that it has been acknowledge just how much i do over and above.
My gran passed away and although we knew it was coming it has still rocked my world, i've been helping to empty her house lots of which have gone to charity so will help others.
Frozen weather caused 2 burst pipes and a flood this has cost money to fix and along with my car breaking down has eaten into savings.

Christmas was lovely and at home, managed to see lots of the family, received some lovely presents which were either useful or needed i have absolutely nothing to regift or sell so i'm taking it as a positive that people are started to realise i love receiving slippers, warm socks and shortbread biscuits  :D.
New year will be quiet just me, DH and the dogs, bought some steak for tea and we have a mountain of snacky bits, chocs and wine/beer left fro Christmas so overall a cheap New Year.

I need to go through finances, targets and see how far we have come in the past 12 months, also need to decide what we are focusing on for 2023.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR all xx
  • Finances -
    Mortgage Jan 2022 11yrs 6mths £69.996/£61,389
    Mortgage overpayment £3600/£3132
    Savings £2000/£1110
    CC overpayments £2000/£1822
    Amazon vouchers £100/£76 M&S vouchers £100/£89

Overall i'm pleased with what we have achieved this year, next year i'm going to focus on clearing CC which has crept up again with Christmas and DS/DH needing new suits for funeral. Also focus on mortgage we have made a dint in it and now the term is down to 9yrs and 11 months, we have 3yrs 5mths left at our current rate of 1.6% and will jump to an eyewatering 6.4% after that i know a lt can change in 3years as we have all seen but i flatly refuse to be giving the banks so much money. Vouchers area bonus but to be honest i've become bored with surveys and i'm finding it hard to focus on them so taking a break from them.

  • Not sure where the strange lines have come from in my sig!

2 items listed on vinted, chicken, pigs in blankets and cheesecake out of the freezer for tea tomorrow.
Finished a box of roses one of the little ones at work bought me for christmas and have a bottle of red warming by the woodburner ready for with the steak later.
  • Morning all and Happy New Year
I have made my first CC overpayment for 2023, just £4 scrapped together from various accounts and i have also made a £bay sale overnight so that will be £9 when it hits account.
Quiet day at home today, I have taken down all the christmas decs and DH has chopped up the tree ready to burn on the woodburner. I have sorted out christmas gifts of the food/drink variety and we should not need to buy biscuits/chocolate or alcohol for a while.
Today and tomorrow should be NSD, then i'm back to work Tuesday so hopefully i can get to Friday without spending any money.

Happy New Year pennywise. I’m going to start taking the decorations down today too, just want to give everywhere a good clean now.
