Think I spoke to soon when I posted earlier! It's blowing a hoolie now! Not as bad as before but definitely very strong. We've now got another weather warning for strong winds later!
I did do some washing earlier and put it out on the line (made sure I used the strong pegs though!) but everything is wrapping round the line! Decided to get it in now the winds getting worse! Most of it's dry so just a few bits in the TD to finish off.
Glad you managed to get a Morries Magic Bag TIE; hope it's a good one!

The wind seems just as bad here as it was on Friday, all of our fence is still standing but we are hoping the gales may have loose the fencing at the bottom of the garden. It all needs pulling out this year but with the railway embankment behind it all seems anchored in with the poorly maintained greenage the other side - for some reason everytime the rails come to tidy up the embankment they ignore our bit!!
One of our local farm shops has just signed up to the too good to go scheme so I'm going to sign up again. My previous attempts never worked out and my orders kept getting cancelled so fingers crossed for a nice lot of veg, the bread products are all from a fab local bakery so at least half the household will enjoy whatever we (hopefully) getMake £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

Glad to hear you enjoyed your evening out @Coxy11. Not perfect on your first day back but better than putting it off for a week. There never is a perfect time.
I do hope you manage to lose next week @Jellybaby but it will be interesting to see what your consultant suggests if needed. Try keeping a detailed food diary which might help him and include plenty of water/squash as that's something they often recommend.
Good luck with running down the freezer @Matron_Midge. Then you can restock with SW friendly things.😊
Which cheese do you use for garlic mushrooms @bubbs? I always use Primula. I agree it can be difficult to get the Light one @joedenise but I never use the full amount so I'm not that bothered. I notice that the tubes have shrunk though. They are now 140g instead of 150g so you wouldn't get 2 x HEA out of it anyway.
We really enjoyed the noodles with our sweet and sour last night, Better than rice IMO. My main reason was that I'd run out of brown rice in the freezer and it was late enough without waiting for that to cook. I've cooked some this morning so will bag it up later. I did the braised red cabbage on Friday and today I need to batch cook the swede & carrot mash. It's good to have side dishes ready in the freezer which are syn free. I need to make more pilau rice this week.
Snap! I've got almost the same lunch as you @Coxy11. I use cottage cheese though as it reminds me of sour cream.
Today's EE plan-
B- fried eggs, bacon (P), HEB toast, HEA milk
L- JP (F), veggie chilli (P,S), cottage cheese (P), beetroot (S)
D- roast beef (P), SW roast potatoes (F), many vegetables (S)
Syns- gravy 4, weekend wine😁1 -
Just shows how long it's been since I got Primula Light then as it was still 150g the last time I got it! I just haven't bothered with soft cheese until this week. Will just get the normal one next time as should get 2 HEAs out of that as that's 60g per HEA.
You're doing well with the batch cooking @maman. I really must sort my freezer out as it's getting difficult to find anything in it! It is quite full so not much point in doing any more batch cooking at the moment although I haven't got any sides just main meals batch cooked at the moment but it all helps.

I always add some grated Parmesan to the Primula to get more flavour but haven't made garlic mushrooms for a while. Maybe tomorrow? 🤔
I'd certainly recommend making up sides like the red cabbage and swede & carrot mash @joedenise. Of course, you do need freezer space. It makes it so easy to put a roast together when only the greens need cooking and I could never use a whole swede or cabbage for one meal anyway and wouldn't want it for days running.1 -
You're right @maman. Thinking about it there might still be some red cabbage in the freezer as I don't use it very often because DH isn't keen. We tend to only have mashed swede with a meal when I'm making a stew or making stew packs up but again I should make some swede and carrot mash because it makes a nice change and also useful for topping cottage pie!
I find cabbage keeps for weeks in the fridge! I've got half a cabbage in the fridge which has been there for at least 2 weeks and it's still fine. Was going to use some this afternoon but I've got a bag of sliced greens which came in one of the Morries Magic Bags earlier so will be using some of that. May well cook all of it and then freeze some - also planning on frying up some of the LO veg for dinner tomorrow night as quite a lot which needs using.

Maman i use lighter triangles for everything 😂
Well we went out to Tesco to get some eggs and yoghurt as forgot them yesterday, then i said shall we go Hornsea, so off i drove and we had a walk up the sea front, was very bracing with the wind, but then the rain got heavy so went in a cafe and had a cuppa, then we had another little walk as it had slowed down again THEN we went chippy 😋😋😋 we had battered sausage and chips, but i didn't like the sausage could tell it was a cheap one....i had 2 bites DH had the rest.
So all the veg i did for a roast is ready for tomorrow and we are having ham salad for tea, i am going to make some scotch eggs , just waiting for eggs to cool.
We got back just right as its battering it again and pouring!

That's brilliant @TakeItEazy. You can freeze herbs but I'd just put them on the kitchen window sill to look pretty. Limes I'd put in gin and they can be frozen in slices too. 🤣
I tried @bubbs recipe for Yorkshire puddings. They'll probably collapse but look good now.0 -
