Sorry to read your news @klew356 look after yourself.

Another manic work day but I've managed to get a load of washing on the line!  Don't expect it to dry completely but damp and a good blow about is better than hanging on dryers!

Sweet omelette, f/f yoghurt and fruit for breakfast (0.5 for skinny syrup), smoked ham and whatever salad bits are left and will probably need pickles to bulk it out, no idea for dinner yet.  Possibly spaghetti bolognaise as there's a portion left in the freezer.

Does anyone else get a thrill at seeing less and less in the fridge as the week goes on

    Have a good day all!

So sorry to hear that @klew356. Condolences to you and your family. Pleased to see you posting again, staying fit and healthy has to be good. 🤗

You know you can do this @MrsRyan. You're so happy when you're losing and getting into smaller, fashionable clothes. If your new dresses start to feel tight it will only make you miserable and then into a downward spiral.  I don't blame you going away as we were locked down for long enough but I know you can find a way to stay close to plan and enjoy life.

I like to see the fridge emptying too @Jellybaby. It's more a mse thing than SW as I'm pleased that I got the meal plan right and nothing being wasted. I always start the next week's meal plan by checking what's left and building it into the following week's meals. Quite a lot more left this week than usual as I didn't get to eat much on Tuesday.

Went to WI this morning and, at last, got the pound off that I needed to get back into target range. 😁 Had hoped for more as I have been really good for the last couple of weeks but I know it's commonplace to find it hard to lose when close to target. But knowing it still doesn't stop me hoping. 🤔

I stayed for Image Therapy as I had the time. Today was about fakeaways v takeaways. Quite interesting but I would have liked a wider discussion to include keeping takeaways as low syn as possible rather than just cooking alternatives  for yourself as it applies to eating out as well. I have fish and chips at home most weeks but that doesn't help if you're at the seaside and can smell the chips! 🤣

Our new venue has a coffee shop and I've taken to going down there after WI, before IT,  and buying a coffee. I always have Americano which, allowing for milk from HEA, is free. Then a new member ordered after me and had a latte! I didn't say anything but I did mention it to the consultant so maybe takeaway coffees will come up in discussion soon.🤔 I forget how syns can creep in when you're new to the plan and think you're just having coffee and milk.

    Today's EE plan-
    B- HEB Weetabix, HEA1 Milk
L- JP (F), cottage cheese (P), spring onions, beetroot, pickled cabbage (S)
D- corned beef hash (P,S,F, HEA2 topping) with broccoli, cabbage
Syns- corned beef 3.5, horseradish 1

    Afternoon all.

@joedenise I got a couple of vouchers for the SW meals as well last week, but haven't used them yet.  There's not that many of the meals that I like to be honest.  They are so expensive, but a handy stop gap for the freezer.

    Have a good day all.

Sorry to hear your news @klew356; look after yourself.  Well done on still eating healthily even if not on plan.  I think you're right that it is learned behaviour.

Well done on your loss @maman and getting back into target 👏👏👏.   I agree with you that it would be helpful to discuss lower syn takeaways which is what my consultant did last week.  This week was about visualising your shopping trolley as the plan:  ie the main part your Free and Speed Foods, the end bit your Healthy Extras and the seat your syns.  I think that's probably quite a good way of demonstrating the plan for new people; not so much for us who have been following the plan for a long time.

I've only tried a couple of the SW meals and wasn't impressed so never bothered again.  I agree that they are very expensive too although I suppose with the vouchers it makes them a bit more reasonable.

Wasn't impressed with the Farmers Market this morning, the stall we actually wanted wasn't there - DH wanted some Kentish cob nut brittle.  There wasn't very many stalls at all.  The milk and cheese stall had a very long queue so I assume the cheese it good but I didn't buy any!  As we were finished way before lunch we decided to come home and have a cuppa and then DH said let's just go to the local Weatherspoons so that's what we did.  It's been a while since we've been but were surprised by how much smaller the menu is now that it used to be.  They don't even do a normal garden/green salad just a Mediterranean salad which is lots of grains, seeds and nuts which was what I was going to have with my steak but it was OUT OF STOCK! so I ended up with a jacket potato with it, wasn't even any veg with it and definitely not the best steak I've ever had.  Something they have started doing is char grilled chicken with a lemon and herb dressing or a hot and spicy one - I assume something along the lines of Nando's by the sound of it.  They also have the dirty rice!  Might try that next time we go.

  • Hi there, weighing later but have been off plan all week, I had to fly home as, according to my sister, who is a bit of a drama queen, mum was very unwell and needed someone there from last weekend. It completely by passed my sister that I was going this week end, so I had to bite the bullet & book another flight home. Then, when I was coming back on Tuesday, I discovered that I had booked the wrong return date so had to buy yet another flight. Her throwing this complete paddy cost me £150 for the flight I was originally booked on and another £140 to come back on Tuesday!

Had to be back as was going for lunch yesterday as a Christmas gift. Didn't know where I was going, but I can highly recommend The Worshipful Company of Butchers! They are in charge of the meat trade & charity and have a carvery lunch twice a month int their Hall. Oh my god, the half ton of beef I had was amazing  so the gain today will be all down to that, the cheese board, although I did not go ott on that, could have, but also had the tiramisiu. Not usually a dessert eater, but it looked & tasted amazing.  Some things are more important in life, so back on plan now.

Afterwards we went to see my cousin who works for The Worshipful Society of Apothecaries. Her boss took me on a personal guided tour of the building, built in 1668, was stunning, all the walls are crooked and got to see the court room where old Enery tried Catherine of Arragon because he wanted his bit on the side. Strangely felt more there than I did in Hampton Court, probably the female empathy :)
A smile costs little but creates much :)
  • Well done on getting back to target @maman

My group has had similar topics the last three weeks, the take aways and eating out then the supermarket shop - I guess the consultants are given some direction on what the topic should be each week?

I had a good walk last night and felt really good for getting out and doing some purposeful exercise.

I'm also really looking forward to starting my new  job next week, there is a lot more responsibility than I've had before and real scope for making some positive changes.

Financially January has been hideous, next month looks the complete opposite and I can rebuild some of my savings, so I'm hoping the positivity from work and getting back to normal finances flows through to my weight loss journey getting a good start too
