I am just concerned as he is not strong at the start to start chemo as he has been so ill for many weeks but mum said in a weird way , today he looked relieved when he was told as in least he knows what is wrong , if you know what i mean?

Absolutely understand that, it is easier to deal with the known, no matter how difficult, than dealing with the unknown. Hugs for you all today.

Morning all, belated happy birthday Ruby.  @Coxy11 I've used over the counter 'help' in the past. Your local pharmacy will prescribe something or supermarket will stock a range too.  Most take 6-8 hours to work so you'd need to take now
My SW group believes a thinly sliced kiwi with the skin on is the best remedy. I haven't tried it myself but everyone nods knowingly when someone says 'oh I've eaten kiwi all week'

Today's food is going to be a mish mash of what's left!  There's not a bit of fruit and only a few potatoes, one tomato and some spring onions.  So thinking the last of the bread toasted with jam (HEB and 2 syns), omelette with tomato, spring onions and pickles and dinner might be pork medallions, cubed potatoes, tinned carrots and frozen brussel sprouts!

Away to write a shopping list and menu plan for tomorrow.  Have a good day everyone.

    Afternoon all

Denise hope you got on ok at docs.

Coxy glad you had  lovely birthday x

Thanks everyone 🥰 but nothing is plain sailing!! So much can happen in 24hrs , this morning took DH work as normal, went food shopping , was on my way home about 8.20 had day planned out, oh no how that can change! Sitting in the que at the roundabout and BANG!! i am the front of a 3 car shunt, luckily no one was hurt, the girl that hit the car behind me, well her car is a right off i would guess, but if she had not have had the dog jumping around on the passenger seat and been on loud speaker on her phone 🤬it may not have happened!! She said it was the sun 😕

She hit a big BMW 4 wheel drive sort of car and made a mess of that! and her car was a mini

So after about an hr got home, put the shopping away , had a cuppa and took my car to get checked out i thought it was   just cosmetic damage and it is  but my arms and shoulders are killing 😫

Not been back that long and was starving as had nothing to eat

    Things can only get better!

Got back late last night and just catching up.

So sorry to hear about your dad @bubbs. Sending you the biggest of hugs. 🤗

Well done those of you who've seen a loss. They all count. 😊

Belated birthday wishes @ruby_eskimo. Yours is the day after mine.

We had a great time in London, walked our legs off and I enjoyed every single syn I had. Hotel breakfast was much more varied than advertised so able to have toast, ham, cheese, eggs and fresh fruit. I could even have had Weetabix but decided that 2 slices of toast (extra 6 syns) was more filling. For other meals I stayed quite well on plan with the exception of battered fish and chips but, as I last had that for last year's birthday during lockdown, I think I deserved it. I had a glorious starter in an Italian, half an avocado piled with prawn cocktail on a bed of rocket. I could have eaten that twice over. 😋 Then there were the wine syns. 🤣

Fortunately I don't feel bloated and back on plan today and for next week too unless anything unexpected crops up. Very little fresh in the house so will post menu later when I've done my meal plan and shop.

Hope you're OK @bubbs.  You ought to get yourself checked out if you're in pain, you may well have done some damage.

Got on OK at Drs.  My steroid inhaler is being increased to a stronger dose which she hopes will do the trick.  I've also got to go and get a chest Xray done but she thinks my chest sounded OK so it's just a precaution.  She's going to call me in 4 weeks time to see how things are and whether my breathlessness has calmed down.  If not she'll be giving me something else as well as the current 2 inhalers!  Really hope it doesn't come to that as that will push up my travel insurance which is already high enough and will increase on renewal with both of us being over 70!

Glad you had a good time in London @maman.  I sometimes have a starter of avocado with prawns but I ask them not to put any Marie Rose sauce on it because I don't really like it, I find it a little sweet usually.  Sounds like you got plenty of body magic in too, well done.  At least you've got time to lose anything you did put on.

Oh dear @bubbs, I just read your post. That's the last thing you need. @joedenise is right, you really should get yourself checked. Please think about it.

Out of interest @joedenise, could you let me have details about your travel insurance company. Ours lapsed during lockdown so I need to start again before we go away. New passports arrived when we were in London.

Hope your new inhaler does the trick. I had one of those tests after a particularly persistent chest infection a few years ago and the nurse told me that my breathing was strong enough to blow down a wooden house. 🤣 Apparently with adults they have a graph but for children it's the 3 little pigs. 😁

Had mackerel and beetroot for lunch so no syns today so far.

@maman - at the moment we are using LV for European travel but we've recently opened a Nationwide account which gives us Worldwide travel insurance included in the monthly fee but we'll have to pay an additional £65 once we book a holiday but we won't contact them about that until our LV insurance runs out at the end of July as apparently we don't need to pay it unless we book a holiday!  But of course once we add on medical conditions I suspect it's going to be at least an extra £200, so it may well be that we don't bother with that and just do single trip insurance as and when we need it.

Sorry to hear about the bump @bubbs - would echo others in saying you should get checked out.

Sounds like a lovely time in London @maman

Belated happy birthday @ruby_eskimo but OMG to the Shard loos!

I have had my lunch and had a few crabsticks afterwards as not a lot of chicken left. Now having a nice Ne$presso coffee (Christmas present from DS1 and GF) and will have my hifi in a bit.

Forgot I've got some senna in the cupboard @Jellybaby, good shout! If I take now though I'm worried something will happen when we are at the pub later!! Will take before bed and hope for the best lol!
