  • Hello there, if it's not too late, could I join in this challenge please?
    My target is £250.
  • Hi Midge72.  It's never too late to join a challenge and get some savings under your belt.  I've added you to the list on page 1 and your number is 14  :).

Do let us know when you find some.  They can be elusive.  Some people find self service checkouts are particularly good at giving £2 coins in the change.  Other's have family members who will happily swap.  I was in bingo on Sunday and someone I sit near to had one in her winnings, which she was happy to swap with me for a pair of £1 coins  :D.  It certainly pays to let people around you know that you save them!

Take care and we look forward to hearing about your successes.

  • I seem to be getting lots of £1 coins but not many £2 coins.
I know how you feel - it's annoying isn't it!  I've just about given up on the self service checkouts down here in West Cornwall, but the checkout staff seem quite happy to give me a £2 coin in my change if I ask for it and they have it in their till (which doesn't seem to be very often I have to say).

Keep going - they are around somewhere.

  • Received a lovely coin in my change from my bus fare today!
This is a win in 2 ways
as up until recently the bus drivers weren't giving any change, so you had to have exact money or pay by card

Hi team, had an excellent night at bingo last night.  £60 won and £18 worth of lovely £2 coins  :).  All plain except for a London Underground coin but all safely potted.

Hope you are all managing to find some.  Let us know how you are getting on and where you are finding best places to get some!

Well done Grumpyoldmoo - 5 is better than none (my saving last year was dreadful but it did start to pick up a bit in the summer so you may find the same) and £22 is still a good solid start.

Can't believe we are already in March  :o.  Clocks go back in a couple of weeks but that always brings lighter mornings so I'm happy with that as have to walk the dog first thing and not very nice when it's dark.

Wow, well done Nellie75.  That's a good amount for February.

I've managed another 2 from my corner shop - gave then a crisp £10 note for a couple of lottery tickets!  Both plain but all safely potted.
