Hello. Just jumping in to say, my sister's friend's husband (a chef and great baker) offered to make her wedding cake as a wedding gift.  The ingredients came to more than what was expected (although how he didn't expect it I don't know, he caters weddings) so my sis's "friend" asked my sis for money towards it.  It was two weeks before the wedding and it was about £100.  I wasn't even that impressed with the cake, it was quite basic.  I thought it would be made of platinum or something.  I don't know the costs of wedding cakes and I don't have a breakdown of what was paid in total in this case but I couldn't believe the audacity.  To be fair to the guy, he wasn't going to ask her, it was his wife (the "friend") who insisted and who asked.  They don't have much of a friendship anymore and I can confidently say it wasn't just to do with the cake.

Goodness @girlatplay these cakes cause more problems than they are worth lol.  I’m annoyed at myself as i really should have just said “no”, but i won’t charge her anything as ive already said it is a present.

Mortgage/ household savings:

1. Today as it’s two days until payday i worked out our money.  We had actually over spent on our shopping budget slightly, but over all we have saved an excess of £189.26 over the month (20/12/21 to today).  Really really pleased with this.
2. In December me and my dh set up an excel spreadsheet that showed exactly how much we still need to save in total to clear our kitchen mortgage.  The theory was that every time we saved money for overpaying our mortgage in Dec  22 ( when our fix ends), it would automatically calculate how much money we still had to find ( we cant pay any money direct to our mortgage until dec, as we have already overpaid as much as we can this year).   This is all brilliant except today i realised we hadn’t set the the spreadsheet up properly and we actually need to find an extra £1000 before Dec 22.  We have done really well saving money so far but i feel a bit deflated .
3. So anyway the outstanding balance for our kitchen (2nd) mortgage today (including approx interest up to when our fix mortgage ends in Dec 2022 ) is £14,946.25. After everything taken off that we have budgeted to throw at it (including our mortgage payments), we have worked out we still need to find another £4082.11 before Dec 2022 😱😱😱 If my dd2 pays us some of the money she owes us (and i can see no reason why she won’t) and my dh gets the work bonus he is expecting this year  and we can save at least some of the spending money we put aside each month……. then just maybe we can possibly do it 🤞🤞🤞.  Once we have cleared this mortgage we can then start to over pay our house mortgage of which we still owe £41,580.83

Wellbeing:

This week i have been cheesed off with myself over making the cake i talked about yesterday and i  have been worrying about the dentist next week and i keep thinking about the mammogram I’ve also got to go for next week (as it’s not one of the nicest things us women have to do).  On top of this, my dd2 is going back to university next week too and i miss her so much when she goes.  

And to top it all i received a postcard from my narcissistic father saying “Just a line to enquire if you are keeping well, and to let you know i am still here for you.  I have not changed.  All my love dad”   …… ok this is one of his nice  letters (not a vile letter like he usually sends) but i just wish he would leave me alone as it just brings back horrible memories that i am trying to leave behind.

So today after also feeling deflated about the above spreadsheet, i went on to do exactly what i always do when things get on top of me……i ate loads of chocolates and now i’m disappointed with myself too.

Oh well, there is not a lot i can do about it now.  Onwards and upwards…..tomorrow is a new day.  But for now i’ll go and do my 30 minutes of brisk walking…… at least this is something i AM achieving every day.
