You are a few tadpoles before they became frogs, well done for getting on and resolving them quickly.
There's a better role out there, that's why you never got this one.
I'm so pleased the visit has helped identify what you want from a location. Having access to outdoor space, a beach and water means a house with a small garden or yard would possibly be easier to find and you can grow upwards to make good use of it instead of outwards.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.6 -
Any interview or application is good practice to get the right role. & I'm not just saying that because I have an interview this aft!
If you put together a role profile for the job that hasn't been advertised you might find that they like it so much they use it when they put the ad out. Most companies will have to advertise and interview even when they know that you are obviously the perfect person to do the job.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Sorry to hear about the job interview DIA . ( good luck with your interview @Brie)
As has been said you're getting in practice and sharpening up for role which won't be too far away imho .
That time flew with your friend . The good thing is that you know the location right for you and hopefully you'll get there within the year .As for the chancers trying to get more out of you , you did well to stop them in their tracks
The great sourcrates , fatbelly and co are a massive help and helped many of us to stop getting fleeced by those undesireables.Keep plodding along !I'll leave it there ...😼5 -
Thanks everyone for positive and encouraging input
It seems adventure is the name of the game here. So yesterday there was no power for 12 hours. A neighbour gave me a wheelbarrow of wood, a torch and an oil lamp. The oil lamp gave off such a pretty glow. I'm on the look out for one from an antique shop now...well not now, but it is on my radar. I had a roaring fire and enough light to read by. I enjoyed it once I let go of being annoyed
Second adventure is I saw a bird swoop down with a pigeon in the garden. It plucked it and spent the next hour eating it. My friend who owns the house is a keen bird watcher so there were binoculars and a book to identify birds. It was a Sparrow Hawk. The garden is full of feathers and a carcass that I will need to move at some point. Not a nice job.
I paid some of the things I need to pay today leaving myself less in my account. When there is more there, I think I have more, so better to pay off things I need to ASAP.

The bird activity is fascinating as long as you're not squeamish. We get some rather large hawks patrolling our skies at times - I think they like the look of the pigeons when the mice and bunnies in near by fields get a bit scarce. There are a lot of pigeons available so I'm happy to share them. We also got some hawks on the office building where I work, scattered feathers are a daily thing and other bits are often also left behind.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. The carcass will probably go on its own. We have a similar garden and even the leftovers get scooped up by something. The worst was when a big seagull necked down a little bird from the feeder…it was so quick! I worry for the baby bunnies when the hawks are about in summer.
I put two rather large chicken breasts under the trees one evening as they were shamefully on the turn….the next morning they were gone. I’ve no idea what would be big enough to dispose of them, I would have chopped them up if I’d realised how large they were before I tipped them out of the container 😬Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

I too find birds, and nature in general, fascinating. There's birds of prey hovering over the hills and suddenly swooping to get something.
Going back to basics is relaxing, I hope you find the lamp when it's time to look for one.

I picked up some YS foods. I held back and let others go first as I notice here there are some poor people, much more so than where I lived before here. Pensioners and young women with little ones who seemed to be struggling more than I am. Luckily, people were going for ready meals mostly. I still got fruit, veggies, fish, prawns and chicken breast chunks!
I missed a phone call, but that's okay. We are going to catch up next week instead.
I hope you all had a good Sunday.
