Today I need to return trainers and send a package abroad
My housemate is back today. I made a chicken and veg curry yesterday so a meal is ready.
I will try and fit a swim in somehow today, maybe late evening.
I have had a 30 day notice that my storage unit is increasing the price again! They increased it in April! Very frustrating as they know they have me over a barrel. It was a good company that changed ownership. I am thinking of decluttering the unit and moving the contents to a smaller, slightly cheaper unit? There are already items I have in there I no longer want, despite a heavy decluttering before I moved!
Somehow, the storage unit plus the possibility of a potential house has left me feeling anxious about money again
I'm trying to save but in fact I can feel myself getting spendy again. I just decided to go away in November for the trip I paid a deposit on before lockdown.
FRITTERING: Again!
Food
Coffees
Buses for walkable journeys
NEW REGULAR COSTS:
Swimming membership
UNPAID FOR TRIPS:
September 1 week break (plus travel costs)
November 1 night mini break (plus travel costs) S
Autumn 1 night mini break (plus travel costs) S
October treat break 1 night
November 1 week break (plus travel costs) EXPENSIVE ONE!! (Deposit paid)
December 1 night away mini break (plus travel costs) No need to go
December 1 night mini break (plus travel costs) Cancelled
OTHER EXPENSES
Paying an industry person
New credit card bill (I've lost track of the new balance!)
Housemates birthday treat
Set up new SO for storage unit
The above is a lot, but writing it down helps me feel more in control
Gratitude (@in_need_of_direction does this every day!)
A lovely house to stay in
A small savings rate increase
A good book
Have a good day everyone

Not sure where or when your next trip is but I'm having to drive as there are works on the line for one trip. Maybe worth checking......
And I'm failing on the swimming. There's twelve o'clock swim which I really need to make2 -

I fail on swims more than I succeed, but will try as when I go I feel so good after in body and mind. Good luck with your swim.If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

re storage units...I heard once that it's normal for people to rent one for 1 month but then actually have them for up to 2 years. Big cost add to any move!! I think we had ours for 6 months in the end.
My line on a lot of this stuff - whether it's in paid storage or your loft or garage - if you haven't needed it for a year you probably don't need it at all and so should just get rid. This is the line I'm taking on a lot of the boxes still unpacked from our move 5+ years back. 1 I discovered last week was full of the OH's very nicely ironed and folded shirts in a size he hasn't been fitting in for about 10 years. Off they went!!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Thanks Brie. I agree. It is a huge expense but not much I can do about that.
I want to do a new round of decluttering in the storage unit if I can recruit someone to come along and help me. If that results in a smaller unit great, if not less for the removals company so win-win.

DS has made use of storage for a number of years. periodically he purges and moves to a smaller unit. he has yet to be out of pocket in terms of things he has disposed off.
