WinterWarrior said:what a beautiful view. That’s some great thoughts, I too need more exercise. Now my dog is too old I am not getting the lunchtime run (not a voluntary run, but she was a big heavy galloper), so since before the first lockdown I have missed out on that daily exercise. We don’t have steps in this house, so I don’t have the muscles for steps anymore either. I really must build movement into the daily routine!NeverendingDMP said:What a beautiful view to the beach.
And I think you have hit the nail on the head, ignore the scales, if you have to be weighed for the diabetes concern tell them they can record it but you don't want to know the answer. Do targets that suit you better and be at ease with it. And by targets I mean things like I will walk to school, dance round my kitchen or walk round the supermarket and lift those heavy bags.! If the pressure is making it worse then its not the best way forwards for you. And I think its an age thing to get up gracefully from a beach. I can't do it either now 😀So less frequent pain.
I'm determined to practise getting up, I'm glad the beach was quietSunshine_girl2 said:I never weigh myself I go off a favourite wedding outfit from 9 years ago . If it fits me then I am happy if it’s tight then I have a few weeks watching what I eat . It works for me , nearly 60 and don’t have any health issues . I must say though I think walking is what keeps me the same weight I try to do min 10,000 steps a day . Glad you are enjoying your 4 day week and your PADs are brilliant. Have a good weekend .
That's a great way of doing it. I do need to up my steps though. Have a great weekendanother_casualty said:Great picture of the beach .Don’t beat yourself up about the weight @jwil. Nothing is easy and can be depressing ( if you let it ) initially. Obviously don’t let it depress you !You have already started on a positive note . As I say , having a family is hard to start / have a routine to yourself .You’ve seen my diary, so I can only add a thought or 2.
If you could try a gentle video workout at home when the place is quiet ( No cost on you tube) and step back with a pen and paper looking at what is in your cupboard/ fridge and think of healthy alternatives and work from there keeping a note on what you had everyday before bedtime. Healthiest chocolate near budget is green and blacks ( no chemicals) . Fresh cooked chips are better than crisps etc.Far better than a slimming club imho as you judge yourself and won’t get disheartened or miserable .
I don’t bother with scales either .I hope I haven’t said too much, but you are doing really well with everything..😼
Thank you for the advice, I really appreciate itGood thinking about You tube workouts, I keep hearing about them, and then forgetting they exist.

Lovely photo - stunning scenery.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on weight. My instructor told me that the average size in the UK was 16 and it had now gone up to 18 post lockdown. I track body fat percentage and sometimes even blood pressure (occasionally) as sometimes they show more positive impacts even when my weight doesn't shift.
I'm more over-weight than you I reckon but am loving the balance class I do at the gym which is based on yoga and pilates. If you'd asked me beforehand whether I could ever do some of the movements I would have laughed in your face - but I amaze myself every week with what I can do. Also remember that snow melts one degree at a time - but it's only towards the end of that process that you see that visibly. I am planning to walk more.Being a size 18 would be a dream, and 16 even better! I can't see me ever getting back to a 14. There's some newfangled machines at the library where we can measure blood pressure etc, so I might try that sometime - thank you. Touch wood, I've never had high blood pressure though (I've never had sugar problems either though, so things change!).
I think perhaps we are similar or I am heavier than you. I'm definitely carrying around an extra person! I've so admired your progress with body balance and think it would be great if I could do that as I'm not very flexible. I don't think I can get to a class, but maybe see if there's something similar on you tube."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Thank you for your support everyone, I really appreciate it.
I've had a good eating day today with loads of fruit and veg. It's all stuff I wanted to eat, not because I felt I had to. The big difference is having the time to prep it all, and think about it, and eat it! I have had some chocolate, but because I've eaten properly, less than normal. No crisps and no bread.
I haven't really achieved much today. By the time I got back from the vets this morning, I had breakfast and then it was time for the course. I logged on to the work computer to do it, as the Teams on there has more functionality than the one on my home computer for some reason. So I got distracted by clearing a few emails after and then it was lunchtime. By then I just sat in the sun and read until it was time to get the kids from school. I may have rested my eyes for a little bit too....
School were fundraising after school, so I bought a couple of runner bean plants. I love them and know they can be quite prolific, so hopefully I won't kill them!
Vets went ok - dog had 3 teeth removed. I've spoken about the cat and will start her on medication next week. I'm relieved that it's all sorted now.
I could do without working tomorrow, but it's an event, so it should be good fun really. I've got to pop away to take the kids to the optician as well. Hopefully that will be straightforward.
I still need to get some new trainers I think. The ones I have are soft, but not supportive enough even with insoles. I need something cushioned and supportive! I'm going to have to spend and suck it up I think. Any suggestions gratefully received!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee5 -

I'm so tired today. I'll be on my feet all day so that will be good for me. I got on the scales again and even heavier again this morning! I might just lock them away for a while. I haven't reacted though, it's just a number today.
Done my PADs.

Go somewhere that can assess your gait for trainers. I went to a running shop even though I'm overweight and the chap there was super friendly and helpful. There's no point spending a fortune on the wrong thing.5

Have a good day everyoneI have some Nike (Pegasus 29 on the label), they were my first expensive (for me) trainers…and I confess I only bought them because they are purple, but they’ve lasted for years and are really comfy, like walking on air.Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien
