I now make mash and leave the skin on if that idea helps anyone. Just use semi skimmed milk.

I sympathise on weight. Mine has stabilized but needs more focused effort to drop

Hope the cat and dog are ok 🐕🐈‍⬛
It's not easy to concentrate on weight with family and responsibilities . You have my sympathy , as you seem to be always on the go which is great.
Obviously , I'm not a dr but from a food point of view , organic and vegan is better but blooming expensive . Brown bread always ( but not hovis 🤢🤮) . Home made jam instead of 'ordinary ' stuff etc . Home made chips instead of mccains etc .  You get the picture .
    no crisps 😼 just a thought .
you are doing well on pads and everything ..

Thank you :) We always have Hovis brown bread :D:D I've been eating a lot of white though which doesn't agree.  I don't eat chips, but crisps might be a bit of an issue and of course, the ever present chocolate!

Same here…I was a bit horrified weighing myself as I’m a stone higher than my last ‘top weight’.  The hardest thing is finding the enthusiasm to cook from scratch after work…convenience food is so convenient! I’d rather thrown in some mccains than start peeling…sigh!
I totally agree - it's so hard to prepare everything from scratch, especially when I'm in a rush, and have fussy family members!  Sorry you had the same issue with weight though :(

I've never tried that with mash, might give it a go, thank you!

My weight is always stable - too high, but doesn't really move much.  That's why I was so shocked.

what a beautiful view. That’s some great thoughts, I too need more exercise. Now my dog is too old I am not getting the lunchtime run (not a voluntary run, but she was a big heavy galloper), so since before the first lockdown I have missed out on that daily exercise. We don’t have steps in this house, so I don’t have the muscles for steps anymore either. I really must build movement into the daily routine!

What a beautiful view to the beach.
And I think you have hit the nail on the head, ignore the scales, if you have to be weighed for the diabetes concern tell them they can record it but you don't want to know the answer. Do targets that suit you  better and be at ease with it. And by targets I mean things like I will walk to school, dance round my kitchen or walk round the supermarket and lift those heavy bags.! If the pressure is making it worse then its not the best way forwards for you. And I think its an age thing to get up gracefully from a beach. I can't do it either now 😀

I never weigh myself I go off a favourite wedding outfit from 9 years ago . If it fits me then I am happy if it’s tight then I have a few weeks watching what I eat . It works for me , nearly 60 and don’t have any health issues . I must say though I think walking is what keeps me the same weight I try to do min 10,000 steps a day . Glad you are enjoying your 4 day week and your PADs are brilliant. Have a good weekend .
Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.

  • Great picture of the beach .

Don’t beat yourself up about the weight @jwil. Nothing is easy and can be depressing ( if you let it ) initially. Obviously don’t let it depress you !
You have already started on a positive note . As I say , having a family is hard to start / have a routine to yourself .
You’ve seen my diary, so I can only add a thought or 2.
If you could try a gentle video workout at home when the place is quiet ( No cost on you tube) and step back with a pen and paper looking at what is in your cupboard/ fridge and think of healthy alternatives and work from there keeping a note on what you had everyday before bedtime. Healthiest chocolate near budget is green and blacks ( no chemicals) . Fresh cooked chips are better than crisps etc.Far better than a slimming club imho as you judge yourself and won’t get disheartened or miserable .
    I don’t bother with scales either .
I hope I haven’t said too much, but you are doing really well with everything..😼

    Hi Jwil

    Lovely photo - stunning scenery.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on weight. My instructor told me that the average size in the UK was 16 and it had now gone up to 18 post lockdown. I track body fat percentage and sometimes even blood pressure (occasionally) as sometimes they show more positive impacts even when my weight doesn't shift.

I'm more over-weight than you I reckon but am loving the balance class I do at the gym which is based on yoga and pilates. If you'd asked me beforehand whether I could ever do some of the movements I would have laughed in your face - but I amaze myself every week with what I can do. Also remember that snow melts one degree at a time - but it's only towards the end of that process that you see that visibly. I am planning to walk more.
