I do love a good clear out. Feels like progress. But also fear inducing in case I get rid of something that I may need later. 🤣🤣🤣

I’ve been to a sewing social. Amazed to make another three pieces for the quilt. 😁😁😁

I get to move onto the next sections now as well. Yay. I’ve set a ten year target. I’m on track for now. Kind of. 🤷‍♀️

Good morning, quite a dull today after a few very warm and sunny days.

Well, the decorators have gone and yesterday I spent all day getting the house back to normal. Even picked up the knitting needles last night and continued with the baby jacket. Just have to knit the sleeves and bands.

I bought fabric online to make curtains for the sitting room. The settees are not arriving till the end of August so I've plenty time to make them but there is a problem. The fabric is curtain fabric but can also be used for upholstery and it's very heavy and stiffer than I've ever sewn with. I'm hoping they hang ok when they're finished 🥴.  Can anyone help advising me how best to sew these. Should I sew in lining or add detachable linings? What type of lining ? Also what width of rufflette tape should I use. Hoping someone can help as I'm really anxious about sewing this fabric.

I'm travelling through to younger son's this morning to babysit this evening and will come home tomorrow after attending oldest grandson's leaving primary school ceremony. Can't believe that's him starting high school. Where do the years go?

    Happy crafting

plumduff55 - I would use the wide curtain tape as the fabric is heavy. Plus I would make separate lings as it would be very hard to do sewn in linings on heavy curtains. I would use a normal weight curtain lining unless you want to do black out linings.

We are having a break from organising table top sales at my SA until the end of September. So I want to use the time to build up a stock of makes to raise funds for SA. I have made Mr F's business Christmas cards. Still need to make my Christmas cards so may do that before I start sewing.

I needed a Birthday card for one of my Granddaughters - the card blank & envelope cost 10p. The print and greeting were given to me and the backing is from a recycled Mother's day card. My Granddaughter loves animals and is doing a dog grooming course.
    Thats such a pretty card.
I am hoping to make some christmas cards this year for people and have cut up last years christmas cards that had pretty sayings or covers so we will see how I get on!

I finished a needle-felted llama (kit I was given for Xmas) - looks rather cute, if I say so myself.

I went a bit off-piste with it, but the tassels (red wool, from an oddment I had left) and the top knot look better than the picture on the kit, so he is now on my mantelpiece.

Every little stitch helps, nimbo.   Congrats on your decluttering.   BTW – what heat?   What a vision I had, when I read you were painting your drawers, ooh er, mrs.

Age has defeated us too, as far as decorating goes, plumduff55.   Tradesmen are expensive though, but they finish far quicker than we would, there’s no cleaning up afterwards,  and (should) do a better job, so I try to keep all that in mind.   Congrats on exerting will power in North Berwick.   I’m looking forward to seeing the wee aran cardi.   OMG!   You’re onto curtains now!   Well done you.

Oooh!  Free wool!   Have you got plans for it already, florenceem?   I always start my Christmas cards in January, otherwise I’d be trying to do them in the week before Christmas (it has happened before; I’m a dreadful procrastinator).   That birthday card is ideal for your granddaughter.

sammy_kaye18, good decluttering.   Your cross stich  pics are beautiful; I love the Snowman and the Snowdog.   I’m sorry you’ve been poorly.   My daughter is feeling rotten/exhausted too, so much so that she did a covid test.   Fortunately it was negative.

Hope to see your llama soon, wraithlady.

Since I popped in last, I have finished replacing the collar/lapel/facing (don't know what to call it, it's not really any of them) on my daughter-in-law's jacket.   I was demented by the time i'd done.   I had the replacement on and off so many times (I actually used 3 new pieces as the faux leather did not like to be unpicked).   The finished article is nowhere near perfect but DiL says kindly that no one should be so close that they can see the imperfections.   She knows how to keep me onside, methinks.

I’ve also made 1 birthday card (+3 extras) and 5 Christmas cards.

    Next up?

    • still got veggie bags to make
    • DiL gave me a jacket to use the faux leather jacket sleeves to fix her favourite jacket, so I’m going to turn it into a waistcoat for her; really just need to bind the armholes.
    • crochet a dinosaur motif for the last wee jumper I made
    • crochet another wee jumper
    • more birthday cards to make for this month

Hi everyone, I've had a nice week although not as productive as usual as I've been out quite a bit. Went to see the Elvis film which was very good but left me feeling sad. The music was brilliant and the actor playing Elvis was great but still made me feel sad.

Yesterday I went to a shop in Glasgow called Cottonprint. It's a real trek for me ( 3 buses ) but well worth going as they have a great selection of fabrics and trimmings. I bought poly cotton curtain lining and lovely cream cotton piping that goes perfectly with my curtain fabric. I also bought wide rufflette tape ( thanks Florenceem) and now all I have to do is START 😂. I think I'll cut out the curtain fabric tomorrow then leave it till after my holiday.

I just have to knit the collar and bands for the baby Aran and will then do a matching hat. The only sewing this week was sewing a badge onto a school blazer for my brother's grandson who is starting school next month.
Florenceem and Sammy Kaye - your cards are beautiful and will be treasured.

I must get moving now as I've got a Tesco delivery arriving soon.
