^^ Wow that looks like a good heavy piece!I nipped into a couple of local chazzers this morning. In one I bought a jingle scarf for 50p for my niece, a refillable 500ml glass bottle for hand wash which will look perfect in my cloakroom for £1 (below, retails at £10 now), a pair of heavy slate bookends for £2.50 and the obligatory 3 books for £1.And from the other, this over-door hook set for £2.75. Looks a lot more shiny and glittering than the photo suggests:@Wednesday2000 - I walked past St. Vincent's and the door was open, to all intents and purposes it looks like a finished store, ready to trade. Except there was a big sign up saying that it opens on 12th September, so another week to wait.No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.5 -
I have quite a lot of tomatoes growing and Want to make some chutneys with some of them. I was looking at canning jars online. Then I saw a lovely Kilner canning jar in a local chazza yesterday for £1. Got chatting to the woman behind the counter and she said they get them in a lot and to keep an eye out. I went to another one after that and found 4 more for 50p each. Think it was meant to be!#39 - Save £12k in 20259

The Cornerstone store is great value, but it has odd opening hours. It closed at 1 yesterday and at 3 during the week. I went in there at 2.45 one day and the shop assistant was vacuuming ready to leave.
I'm going to try the shops in York next week.:)5 -
A black Made in Italy poncho with silver stars £4.99. It’s mainly manmade fires but 7% angora so I hope it won’t make me itchy. The following all £1 each
Tu kids red and white socks with grippy soles BNWT and a perfect fit for my small trotters.
A pale turquoise mother of pearl bangle
A silver and blue star key ring
And a Whittard pasta bowl with fusilli, ravioli, pasta etc written round the rim. I think it’s trying to make you think that it’s Emma Bridgewater Toast range but at a quid I’m not fussy.5 -
Almost bought a new toast rack from one of the chazzas today but resisted. If I get back there I might be tempted as I've actually been looking for one for ages and this one was the best I've seen so far.
And took back the Will Young cd that was actually a Greatest Disco disc inside the box. Lovely lady offered me a £1 refund which I refused as it had been part of a BOGOF deal. I got 3 absolutely wonderful cds for £2 so to not have this one was certainly not going to kill me. I explained the only reason I brought it back was to warn them that people need to check they're getting the right cd.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I have a Lurpak Douglas toast rack.
I use it to build pita bread lunches with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion and wafer thin ham.5 -
Don't really want to think about autumn/winter yet but could not resist an as new traditional trench coat from BHF Thirsk, priced at £15. All the usual bells and whistles, horn buttons, D rings, storm flaps, zipped inside pocket, detachable quilted lining, calf length & quite a structured narrow fit rather than oversized. Now can't wait to dig out my big silk scarf with horsey bits on it and the tan knee high leather boots
Also found a key ring with a slice of a semi precious stone attached whose name is very similar to my first name. Still in the presentation box and from John Lewis. I intend to find a silver chain for it and wear it as a pendant, price £2.258 -
An interesting read: https://apple.news/Anu9rXmlmS5Ow2cjcMTzGzQ
Better that we buy cheap from the chaz and donate it back in that direction. No man is worth crawling on this earth.

I took the chipped jar back and handed it over explaining that I thought it might be a good idea to label it as unsuitable for food so that it wouldn't be doing the Hokey Cokey the next time someone chose to buy it and they were very nice about it.
I had a little squiz around the clothes and struck lucky with one of the bits I'd been looking for since March, these perfect size and great thickness M*rks white trousers. Of course, now I've found them, the good weather has gone but they'll keep until next year and are really nice quality material. I've lost count of the thin and badly cut pairs of white trousers I've left on the rails this summer, I knew if I kept looking I'd find a pair I really wanted and here they are.
Then a little further along the rail I found these quite lightweight dull pink cords which go really well with one of my lightweight cotton cardigans so that makes an outfit for spring and autumn which I'm very pleased about. I also found a pale mint green Lands End polo top which I snapped up as polo necks are my preferred wear these days unless the weather is really hot. I couldn't manage to get anywhere near the real colours in any of my photos but this one is the best I think, sorry for the funny angles.
Both pairs of trousers seem unworn and as you can see the shop priced the Boden pair accordingly but not the M*rks ones, interesting I thought.
Anyway, then I wandered through to the books and kitchenalia shelves and succumbed to these, I really like the peas and artichokes, the tomatoes not so much though.
I thought the containers, £8.49, which nest very conveniently would do for my evening cooking class as we bring our efforts home afterwards and we never know in advance what size to bring so these will be useful. The books, £2.50 and £3.50, are for dipping into when insomnia strikes as I never feel it's worth starting anything meaningful as I won't remember it the next day for tiredness.
Sorry for the essay, hope everyone else is enjoying the thunder and lightning from snug shelter and all planning your next chazza blowout."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

Away last week, so we got to tour the chazzers on the north coast of Scotland. DH got a couple of blu ray dvd bargains, and I snapped up a BNWT New Look (Petite!!) polka dot shirt that will be just the thing for work. I very rarely see petite things in chazzas, and regular blouses/shirts/jumpers are always too long in the arms for me. I was thrilled!Every act of kindness, no matter how small, isn’t wasted ❤️
