well done at finally finding the right white trousers!!!  It's so difficult when you know exactly what you want and no one has any to sell you.  And I agree about the bowls - but great that they're the right size for your class and I'm glad you're still enjoying it.

I wandered through to the books and kitchenalia shelves and succumbed to these, I really like the peas and artichokes, the tomatoes not so much though.

I thought the containers, £8.49, which nest very conveniently would do for my evening cooking class as we bring our efforts home afterwards and we never know in advance what size to bring so these will be useful. The books, £2.50 and £3.50, are for dipping into when insomnia strikes as I never feel it's worth starting anything meaningful as I won't remember it the next day for tiredness.

Sorry for the essay, hope everyone else is enjoying the thunder and lightning from snug shelter and all planning your next chazza blowout.
I think you've done really well with your storage containers: this seems to be this year's version.

  • @Cherryfudge - thankyou for spotting that, I have been racking my brains today because I was sure I'd seen the artichokes somewhere recently but couldn't for the life of me think where. I'm a trifle shocked at the price of the new ones especially as they biodegrade which might be rather inconvenient. Mine are a sort of rounded off square shape except that they aren't quite square so you can only fit the lids on one way round IYSWIM which makes them rather fiddly and irritating until you get accustomed to the idea. I wonder if that's why they were donated. I'm certainly going to keep my eyes peeled for any other EB bits and pieces that are donated as I'd love one of these jam jars but not at that price.  :o

I'd love to hear your opinion on the River Cottage book once you've tried a few ideas in case I should keep an eye open for a copy for myself or friends.

@Brie and @Rosa_Damascena - perhaps we should start a book club where we have to find the book in a chazza and then read and return it.

@goldfinches, the jam jar is lovely but I agree with you - not at that price! It's worth keeping an eye open in their seconds shop (online) which is still not cheap but I've bought from there and the faults were very minor.

I'll let you know how the book goes. It's actually Riverford rather than River Cottage (I'm a River Cottage fan and read it the same as you!) but I think there's common ground.

  • I looked in a few charity shops in York yesterday. I was thinking I could pick up a cardigan as it might get cooler at night and I didn't bring one as it was humid at home. I could only find very warm winter cardigans. I wasn't really looking at prices, but then I did see a sheer black shirt and thought that would work as a layer but it was £20! I think that was Age UK. I didn't buy it.

  • Hi
I have the opportunity to go to Telford over a weekend mid November with my husband because he's attending a show there.
I'm not particularly interested in the show but I'm wondering if there are any towns near Telford that are good for a mooch ?
I'm not really interested in the usual suspects you find on the high street but more interested in charity shops, markets, independently owned. Any recommendations?
I will have access to a car & we'll be staying close to the train station.
    Cheers
    Jen
