Wednesday2000 said:I went into a shop called The Cornerstone yesterday. I picked up a pair of red and white curtains (as I was looking for a door curtain for winter) and an orange glass dish and a yellow dish for displaying my autumn decorations for my home. I also got a red Next blouse and a framed picture of Hockely wood in winter with snowfall. That all came to £11.
I was looking for autumn decor but I found a fleecy dark green throw and a dark red pillow at a homeless charity shop today and I also saw a nice glass vase by the counter. That was all £7.50.
I had been looking for a coat with a hood for winter, but the assistants said the coats would be out in the stores in a few weeks. I did see a blue padded gillet with a hood but I don't think I need to wear something that makes me look bigger on top! It did look like it would be warm though.
I keep looking at my black wool coat with a hood and wonder if I can sneak it out to a chazza. OH tends to insist occasionally that I buy things that he finds in shops and proves to me are absolutely perfect even if I don't want them. And as lovely as this coat is I didn't want it and have only worn it a couple of times in several years. Don't think it even fits me anymore but he's be grumped if I get rid......sigh.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. And don't be afraid of taking a tool large rubber ring & cutting it down to fit. Take the stopper with you to try the basics?!3

I did see some rain macs in one of the shops today with hoods thinking back, but they were all the plastic type that I used to wear as a kid (kagoule/cagoule?) and then the other waterproof coats looked like something my Granddad used to wear. Those beige macs older men wear. Not my style. I'm pale enough, thanks. I don't want to look like a bowl of porridge. Haha.
I'm hoping the chazzers have better coat options once the weather changes.4 -

I have had a bit of a disappointment this afternoon as I thought I'd got a Le Parfait 1l jar from my favourite BHF shop but having a closer look at home I found a nasty big chip out of the rim that makes it unusable for food, I think, so I'll have to return it tomorrow, good thing I always keep my receipts. Here is the jar along with a Cole & Mason cut herb keeper I found.
Here's the chip in the rim which I didn't notice in the shop as I was focussed on checking the sealing ring!
I really don't feel like using the jar for any type of food let alone the bramble jelly I'm hoping to make next week. I'll be more careful from now on."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

@goldfinches - I was just looking at those cut herb keepers online this afternoon, I think they’re about £14 new so you got a bargain!
I have been away for the week and had some great finds in the charity shops (unlike my local ones which are all ‘£30 for a bobbly Boden tshirt’ sort of shops). I got a pink Uniqlo 100%cashmere jumper for 50p, and then a pair of straight dark blue (but worn in) jeans for £4 - when I got home I realised they were M&S. Also got a copy of Delia’s Frugal Food (the 2008 reissued version) for £1.Books read 2023 - 49/757 -
