f you sell a 'designer' bag on EBay now you have to send it to EBay for independent assessors to authenticate it before it is sent to the buyer. I think this is a new thing they have brought in cos of all the so-called 'super- fakes'. Also I believe if the bag is found to be a fake it is destroyed rather than being returned to the seller? Quite a good way of clamping down on the fake market!Pollycat said:Re the 'Dior' bag:
Isn't there something that says you can't sell fakes?
I know eBay are quick on that.
I've seen programmes like Posh Pawn and they go to great lengths to make sure a bag isn't fake before buying it.
Surely nobody would part with £900 for a bag that doesn't have full provenance?
I'm sure we've had this discussion before on this thread.
I used to go to Goa and they did a lot of fake designer bags.3

I found this online - it's advice from Oxfordshire County Council to charity shops about selling counterfeit goods.
The final sentence is:Remember that you may commit offences by supplying counterfeit goods, so if you have doubts, do not sell the goods. 6

One poster who works (worked?) in a charity shop said specifically:I did read your post and charities are not allowed to sell counterfeit goods.
I have spent 30 years in this line of work I did not say I agree with the rules but have to abide by them obviously.3

Just had another thought! It was mentioned earlier on that it was strange that the chazza didn't put the bag on their EBay site to reach a wider audience. As Ebay now put 'designer bags' thro an independent authentication process this could help to confirm that the chazza is not 100% sure of the authenticity?7

I had a look online and can't find a second hand section in that particular charity's online shop, and they don't seem to sell through Ebay either, so it can't be checked through these channels.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
