A successful foray today in the neighbouring town. A pack of Laura Ashley fairy lights which I shall twirl around my smaller orchid (pretty when they are in flower and pretties up a plant when it’s not flowering). Silicon reusable travel bottles which I’ve been looking out for for my wash bag. New pair of work trousers as I’m going back into the office more and a couple of tops. All topped off with some DVDs that I’ve had on the list.✒️ Declutter 2025 🏅👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

I haven;t made it to Thirsk's charity shops yet. Should I? Any to 'avoid'?Cherryfudge said:A foray into deepest Thirsk today: I like their charity shops though some are cheaper than others. This time I bought a jigsaw story book for £1.99 (Oxfam) and two books for me plus one for DGD from the Blue Cross (£4.00)Wealth is not measured by currency4 -
Found me a pair of Clark’s brown patent chunky heeled Arabella shoes in the CRUK shop in Northallerton yesterday, b/n and priced at £4.75. On Friday in the Leeds BHF shop I got a pair of sand coloured Hobbs casual trousers, b/n and £10(!). Dithered for ages at the price but I love Hobbs stuff so using the ‘couple of cups of coffee’ rationale I succumbed!8

Can recommend the Herriot Hospice shop, just off the market place and there is also another hospice shop, St Theresa’s, that does furniture and bric a brac also off the market place.CAFCGirl said:

M&S pattered tapered leg trousers as new but no tags £3.50
Navy lace Lakeland top as new but no tags £2.50All that clutter used to be money4 -
Yesterday in the St Gemma's Hospice shop I got a black patent leather belt for £1.99, looked as if never worn, from an Australian brand called Veronica Maine - Google tells me it would have originally been priced at £79!!! In the community shop I found a medium sized Bohemia crystal vase with a fuchsia pattern still beautifully wrapped in it's box for £4. Today in the brain tumour shop I got two boxes of 5 prs of knee highs..50p per box and finally in theRSPCA shop I got a black very sharply fitted jacket with a colourful geometric satin lining, (bit like the Balmain Bar jacket) - H & M Signature range for £6.

I noticed a couple are a bit on the expensive side but I'm afraid I don't remember which is which. It's worth a leisurely mooch around the market place though: there must be at least six - and don't forget the two Miro mentioned as the St Theresa's does some furnishings and there's a little side corridor behind the sofas in there which also has things for sale.I haven;t made it to Thirsk's charity shops yet. I was in Sue Ryder's in Northallerton today and spent £1 on some nice cheerful sock wool. Then I asked if they had knitting needles which they do, tucked away out of reach of people who might weapon-ise them. I bought a crochet hook for 75p. I've resisted some dark turquoise-green wool which caught my eye but I have no vision for it.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)
