So, so sorry to hear this sad news @DfV but thank you so much for letting us all know. I always felt 'that man' was an honorary non-posting member of our thread! I loved hearing of his 'finds' on your family explorations. Romantic.'.......pah, keep the flowers, the Ferrero Rocher, the Milk Tray etc, give me a man who really knows what sparks joy in his partner. Wishing you peace, love and strength xxx12

I'm so very sorry, @DigForVictory, I'll raise a (very huggable) Homestead mug in his memory. Sending gentle hugs.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

@DigForVictory I hope the outpouring of love from all of us invisible strangers is some small comfort to you during this heartbreaking time. Mister DfV was mentioned by you so regularly and with such deep affection that he felt almost one of the group here. You are very much in my thoughts.
I have been donating rather than charity shopping recently, as I am wading through the endless junk in my recently-deceased father in law’s house and making almost daily trips to drop off bags and boxes of anything useful to the local chazzers (and the council recycling centre). His house always seemed quite tidy, but on opening cupboards you get drowned in an avalanche of ‘stuff’ which had been hidden from view ….. he clearly hadn’t wanted to throw anything away, and had kept the weirdest stuff - bags and bags of plastic screw tops from medicine bottles, anyone?!I haven’t any charity shop purchases to report, apart from two lovely Roald Dahl board games for 50p each which will be great for keeping the little grandchildren entertained on a forthcoming holibobs.6 -
@DigForVictory so sorry for your loss.
I've always loved reading about your forays with your family and admired your husband's ability to spot treasure!
Big Hugs

@DifForVictory - I'm so sorry to read of your husband's death. As others here have said, I really enjoyed reading your posts about his forays into charity shops and his many market stall finds.
Sending you and your family hugs from here, goldfinches XXX5 -
A foray into deepest Thirsk today: I like their charity shops though some are cheaper than others. This time I bought a jigsaw story book for £1.99 (Oxfam) and two books for me plus one for DGD from the Blue Cross (£4.00)
I also went to the car boot sale in the afternoon and got knitting needles (50p), an ornament to go in the dolls' house garden (50p) and a cafetiere which will be a gift (£1). The stall holder saw me considering a kilner-type jar too and told me I could have it for free along with the cafetiere. DH discovered a stall with lots of old records and bought about five at a pound each.
I resisted some yarn (not a big temptation this time) and a jumper which I thought about then saw it through other eyes and went off the idea!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
