Paying Barclaycard

Get a banking app, I can see the day the statement is generated what it will be and when it will be taken (I can even do a 99% accurate guess based on current spending which is updated within minutes of spending most of the time). If you're going overdrawn because you don't know what you are spending then keep track of it like you would in the old days of a chequebookGrumpy_chap said:Yes, I get the statement in the post, but if I don't act on it then I'd end up overdrawn automatically. Current process of receive the statement and arrange payment guarantees that funds are there before taken to pay the card.1 -
Could you request that FD send a debit card to a local HSBC branch and collect there? Alternatively, if there have been multiple failed deliveries in the past ask them to send by recorded/tracked post. Years ago I had an issue receiving an RBS Debit Card, so in the end they sent it by recorded delivery.0

I do track my spending and I do use the cheque book.Deleted_User said:spending then keep track of it like you would in the old days of a chequebook
None of this works and I don't actually need the card thing anyhow.Se1Lad said:Could you request that FD send a debit card to a local HSBC branch and collect there? If you had the card it would make it very straightforward to pay your Barclaycard online!Grumpy_chap said:

It also mentions on the Barclaycard statement that you can pay by bank transfer - can’t you set that up on FD telephone banking and then call in each month to make payment that way?0

If you track your spending how would you go overdrawn if you had a DD to take the payment in full?Grumpy_chap said:

Because the DD would just go anyway whether the funds are there or not. With the cheque I can make sure I do not write and post until the funds are there.Deleted_User said:.If you track your spending how would you go overdrawn if you had a DD to take the payment in full?
That is what I did last month and it was painful.Se1Lad said:It also mentions on the Barclaycard statement that you can pay by bank transfer - can’t you set that up on FD telephone banking and then call in each month to make payment that way?0 -

I checked with an older relative who has been with FD for years and mainly uses their telephone banking service….

When you phone up to make a bank transfer you can ask them to save the payee details, so the next time you call it a quick process to use the existing details.
They may have already saved the details this time, but if not you just need to ask them to save them when you provide them again next month and then your problem is solved for future months.
hope that helps!2 -
Clearly top trolling, can't believe this has gone on for 14 pages now.J_B said:Grumpy_chap said:That is what I did last month and it was painful.
Much like the whole of this thread ..... 🙄Life isn't about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away. Like choking....5
