Right but you still arent answering my question. Why didnt you use the automated payment system when you rang Barclaycard? This wouldnt have taken you 45 minutes.

Get a new personal bank account. Quickly.

BUT, I did it online with Barclaycard using the business account (which I shouldn't do and shouldn't have to) but that failed on the automated process so I had to phone them.

Why don’t you open a personal account with Barclays then for yourself? You could then transfer the money from your FD account and they pay Barclaycard either by debit card or by faster payment.

Or better still make an official complaint to FD about having no internet banking or debit card to use on your account, making it practically useless if they can’t sort it out then you should vote with your feet and switch to different bank.

There are plenty of switching offers around at the moment.

You seem to be making life so difficult for yourself on purpose!!

Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both.
  • But you say you dont want to use your business account.

We are going round in circles here. You have three options.

    a) Finally get round to contacting First Direct to send you a debit card. This isnt tricky, assuming they hold your correct address.
    b) Persuade your wife, who clearly wears the trousers at yours, that having NO debit card and NO internet banking on your personal account isnt feasible in the slightest in the year 2022, and to open a brand new personal account somewhere else, perhaps earning a £100+ switching bonus in the process

    Or, there is option c

    c) Continue as you are, struggling to make simple payments, and pontificating on here about it when you have had 12 pages of people telling you how to sort this simple issue out.

And with that, this is my final post in this thread.

    GC.

I haven't read all the thread but we had a similar issue where certain documents were not being received.

When we called about it, after several calls it turned out there was a correspondence suppression on which had been done in such a way it only impacted certain documents.

And was not visible from the main screen according to the CSR we spoke to.

If you haven't already done so speak to FD about the items you don't receive but ask them specifically to check that there are no suppression set on the account.

The complaints to FD achieve nothing.

An account at Barclays could work - I might see if they can let me have an account as well as keep the FD account.

    Indeed

Never have I read a thread where the OP insists on making life so difficult for themselves or somes up with so many ridiculous excuses as to why they can't do things like normal people do.

I cannot change from FD as Mrs G-C likes them.

Perhaps you could get Mrs G-C to pay the Barclaycard?

...or enlist the help of a teenager.

Everyone wants to blame FD where it is Barclaycard that are the problem.
    No, it really isn't.
