Paying Barclaycard

OK, so I wanted a VISA card to go alongside my Mastercard. I only had the one CC which is not a great idea. I applied to Barclaycard and they sent me a card
Today I received the first bill from Barclaycard, but there is no method to pay by post. All I want to do is send them a cheque with the little slip like I have every other credit card I ever had. Can't do that with Barclaycard - I phoned and was told to go to the local branch (but they've all been closed) or, if it is that important to me to all the payment by cheque through the post then that can be done if I let the account default and then the default team will send a cheque payment slip. Obviously that is not the correct thing to do.
I have no choice really other than to pay this month's bill in the way that I can - which will mean taking a day off work to travel to a branch.
After that, I'll cut the card up as it is no use to me.
What I wonder is whether I can now get a VISA card from another provider that allows me to send payment by post, given my credit history will show having only recently taken a new card at Barclaycard - will that scupper chance of a card from elsewhere?
How do I ensure that any other card allows the payment by cheque before applying? This was never something I even thought about before.
