Speak to someone at the bank it will make things so much easier for you.
I phoned and was told to go to the local branch (but they've all been closed) or, if it is that important to me to all the payment by cheque through the post then that can be done if I let the account default and then the default team will send a cheque payment slip.

I have shredded the Barclaycard and I'll sort it out when it defaults as that seems the only way to pay by cheque.

Does anyone know any other VISA card that I can apply for that will definitely allow me to pay by cheque in the post?  It is the only way to keep control.
Will the recent successful application for a Barclaycard cause an issue with getting a card from elsewhere?

    By online banking.

I don't have that.  Not for my personal account, only for my business account.  I cannot pay personal credit card from business account.
Transfer the money to yourself then onto Barclaycard?
I am not sure that I follow you.

I can't mix personal finances into the business account of vice-versa.

i pay my barclaycard by faster payment

i set up a payee with the generic barclays sort code and account number. the 'reference' field is my long card number

then just pay required amount in same way as any other payee

I may be just thick, but what is that?  How do you use it?

Thanks for the suggestion of the Nationwide cc.  Will my chances of getting it be blown having just taken the Barclaycard?

Who do you bank with that doesn't offer online banking and a debit card? Or is it a personal choice to only have a cash card / cheque book and not use internet banking?

You've clearly got internet access as you're posting on here, so that's not the issue.

    I bank with First Direct.
I ask them for a card but it never arrives - they always get lost in the post.
I also asked them for online, but that never works either.

Using cheque is quite easy (normally) and it gives me total control.

Barclaycard is obviously the problem as they don't accept cheque payment, so I've shredded the card.  It means I have this payment to do plus there will be a little bit spent since the payment date until today, but that's it.

If you're with First Direct just ring them up and say you want to pay your Barclaycard. They'll do it for you over the phone and take the money from your current account. All you have to do is to give them your Barclaycard number and the amount you want to pay.

That's what First Direct was invented for: telephone banking.
  • Either that or switch to another bank.
