Good to see that Zog has already entered end of month smart readings into my online account.0

OMG, like everyone else I am gutted. Was with one of the big 6 for over 40yrs, switched to Zog after reading the fantastic reviews on MSE, scared at first, but it worked out great.
In August I fixed for 2yrs, will I remain on this when another Company takes over, or will I go on to variable? Is it best if I cancel my direct debit that is set up, payment was taken today for last month's reading? Or do I leave it for the new Company.
I would be grateful if members who have a lot of experience on this, could keep this thread updated, as I must admit I am panicking.0 -

No need to panic - if you fixed in August it shouldn't be an enormous increase. Ofgem (and Martin's) advice is to leave your direct debit active. Any credit you have built up with Zog is protected and will be passed on to the SoLR.2 -
There is no need to panic unless it is about paying the higher rates. The tariff will almost certainly be around the Ofgem cap - around 4.1p per kWh and around 26p SC. That will be a significant increase for some, although in my case I only had two months left on my fix so I was resigned to paying this rate before too much longer.
The transition will take a few weeks and any credit you have will be transferred to the new supplier after your account is set up.1 -

I would be grateful if members who have a lot of experience on this, could keep this thread updated, as I must admit I am panicking.- You can expect to end up on the Ofgem-capped variable tariff of around 4.1p/kWh plus 25p/day, effective from the day that the new supplier is announced.
- Any credit you have with Zog will be transferred to your new account at our new supplier.
- You can leave your DD (in which case any payments that go to Zog will end up credited to your account) or you can cancel. The general advice is to leave it but I've cancelled mine!
- This will all take 2-3 months to sort out, hopefully towards the shorter end of that range since Zog are small and seem to be well-organised.

I agree, I'm leaving all my as is until I get a letter from the SoLR advising any different.
I've had a quick look around online and agree the prices are likely to be around the 4.1p/kWh and 26p/day charges. Bit of a price increase for me, I was hoping to of had the benefit of the 2 year fixed and hoping prices would come back down but oh well, win some, loose some
I'm likely to leave mine as is until i get the new account setup and credit back, and then prob next March take a look around and try and get on a fixed rate. Will likely try and stick to a well known company initially whilst all this is going on. Might even get my gas meter moved to a SMETS2 smart meter and get a working IHD againMy existing one for me SMETS2 elec, just goes to mas as soon as anything is on, it never used to but now its just sitting all the way over on the right in the red zone so now I just turn it off as its useless to me. Was going to request a replacement but now might just hold off and see who I move to and maybe get gas moved to smart meter if possible and get new IHD might be better option

The only extra advice I'd give on the DD is just make sure you only have one active, so if the SoLR asks you to set one up then cancel the Zog one when you do it.If you do not then there is a good chance they will both continue taking money.2
