I have reported on another thread EDF's failed smart meter fitting today. I did try to explain to EDF that the meter swap was probably not possible. I have spoken to Octopus who has agreed that I may transfer my gas supply to them to sit alongside my electric.

Received my Jan to June EDF gas bill, readings are accurate using submitted ones, but I've chosen to switch my gas to BG who have my electric. Hoping that BG may offer a better fixed gas deal having both utilities, already fixed the electric in May.

How have you managed that? I had been thinking similar but they won't even offer me the option of a quote for gas online/in app?
  • Got our edf bill this morning and ok the dd is going up by double cos we owe about £90, and energy is going up in October anyway so the cushion over the summer will help, fair enough.  So for some reason, edf think we will use 15k of gas this coming year, despite us never going over 10500 in the 8 years of being here 🤣. Looks like a phone call to them later this week

Their estimates for both my daughter and myself are slightly on the low side of about right.  Strange how they get some so far out.

I think that everything that EDF does behind the scenes is more or less correct. The problem is that it is very difficult to rationalise with them. Their "customer service" staff appeared to be ill-qualified to work with customers.

Today is 12th June. I am moving from EDF to Octopus on 27th June.

But here is the remarkable thing, my gas data are already displayed on my Octopus webpage. Extraordinary.

I just got a paper bill for 12 days standing charges for December 4-15th. Rude of them to sort that out without checking their opening reading. I probably still owe them about £3 though.
