I have not as yet seen a charge/ bill for the period 4-15th Dec, however mine would just be the S/C. I am a remainer (for now).

Does anyone posess the T & Cs for the "Welcome Standard" ? I had no option but to select Variable Standard when I set up DD, but I see others are still on Welcome Standard with DD. What's the difference?
'Welcome Standard' costs more, it's charged at the Cash/Cheque rate.
EDF started everyone on the Cash/Cheque rate because (unlike other SoLRs) they couldn't get the DDs transferred across from Zog.  EDF promised to refund the overcharge if a DD was set up by 31 January.  I complied, and the rate thereafter changed to 'Welcome Standard - Direct Debit', although this was shown only in the billing section, not in the 'About Your Tariff' section.
It's unclear whether they have refunded the initial overcharge: I've had a credit applied but with no indication as to what it relates, and their 'Welcome to customers joining us from Zog Energy' page hasn't been updated for the last four weeks.
Welcome Standard does not cost more, it is the same as Standard Variable and varies by payment method. I am on WS and my daughter is on SV, both at exactly the same payment by DD rates.
Welcome Standard does cost more than Welcome Standard - Direct Debit.

  • EDF get's odder and odder then, as mine was Welcome Standard cash rates but changed to Std Variable with dd rates once I'd set up the DD. I had no option but to pick a new tarrif online, even if it's both capped/ standard. I'm just confused as to why some of us have changed to DD but are still on Welcome Standard and others are on SVT.

I guess I just wanted to know if the terms were the same ????? as I have never been given the Welcome Standard Terms.

Yes, all the later ones are correctly billed at the 'Welcome Standard - Direct Debit' Rate.  (You can paste a copied image or use the 'mountains' icon to attach a stored image).

  • Do you have a link to your Welcome Std terms and conds? EDF put link in the online account but mine is just the SVT.

How did you set up DD payments? Online, app, chat?

EDF never sent me a welcome pack.  I assume I'm on the standard Ts & Cs, probably these.
Almost certainly sent the DD details online because even a simple Chat takes hours (assuming it doesn't drop out or get to their bedtime) and typing on a smart phone is fiddly.

My smart meter is dumb to EDF. If I submit a reading tomorrow, will they use it to decide the amount of gas used at old rates and new rates?
I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".

Who knows? That's the logical conclusion but EDF appear to be a law unto themselves.

Ok thanks, I found some others too so will try to use a comparison tool to check differences.

EDF's account page appears to be broken this morning, "Sorry, there's been a hitch ... "
