6 days no power in winter.Do you have a friend you can borrow a generator or inverter from? Or even hire a generator from a local plant co? You don't need a lot of juice, just enough to get the CH boiler and pump(s) up.(I've got both in my shed but that's not going to help you, sorry.)Edit: Page 5 of this pdf says £70 after 24 hrs, another £70 every additional 12 hrs, up to £700. I’m in the West of Scotland. I have never lived in a NPG region. I have now had 7 texts over the past 36 hours from Norther Power Grid about “my” loss of power. NPG do not cover Scotland , so clearly they have my number instead of someone else.saunaboy said:Reported electricity off at 2130 on Fri. No comms from Northern Power grid apart from a message online saying fixed by 1200 today. Nobody here.¡
Now their site says not aware of a power cut at my address.
Their emergency line won't take calls.
Their non emergency line won't take calls.
Their website has no reliable info.
They won't respond to tweets.
Any advice? Is 9c in house 3rd day running.Last time I had messages from them- a year ago - I waited until the crisis was over and then asked them to take my number off their data base. I don’t like getting irrelevant messages at 4, 5 and 6 am!But clearly they have not done this.So SaunaBoy, I’m sorry if I’m getting messages on your behalf. Have you checked that you have the correct number registered with NPG - because just maybe, I’m getting your messages!!! …and they are waking me up.0 -

Can you claim on house insurance for alternative accommodation as home unhabitable - is it?
Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
Home 9c so def uninhabitable. Prob is if I claim then I get stung in future don't I?
No access to generator. Booked into cheap hotel just to get a warm shower etc.
Most frustrating thing is that twice I gave them details in depth about the issue. It is obvious that a cable was damaged by a tree.
Engineer showed up at 3pm today & said "oh, the cable is damaged & that needs a different team". I'll admit I went mad. They were contractors not on the main company system.

NPG also tweeted saying they are contacting personally all affected homes. Basically that is a lie. I have spent 2hrs today unsuccessfully trying to contact THEM.0

As a retired electricity board engineer I have worked on repairs after several storms and snow is the worst - extensive damage caused by falling trees and very difficult access. At this time of year working in the dark slows things down. Initially you can work your staff long hours but safety and welfare are big considerations.
I wish the CEO's wouldn't make promises - "everyone will be back by this afternoon" (3 weeks later after the hurricane we were still working). Every storm is different and it takes a long time to work out what damage has been done and what the priorities are and try to get the right staff in the right place.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill4 -
They didn't help themselves. I had reported in detail the local damage. Yesterday a crew showed up & went "oh we didn't have details of the damage" and left. Contractors who hadn't been provided any info.

Sounds like NPG needs a real shake up. I have never received anything more than excellent service on numerous occasions from Western Power
