I was told on Friday 31st on chat that this tariff is only for unoccupied properties, which was a new one, despite having been told 3 times previously I could be switched to it.  I was also told, after pointing this out,  that no request to be switched to it had been submitted ...again despite the previous chat agent stating (on 10 Nov) that they had submitted the request (and reconfirming it later in the chat when I asked for definite confirmation) and I would get the email confirmation within 10-14 days, which clearly didn't happen

Lets just say I got rather insistent and made the agent read through the previous chats to prove I'd been promised it.  Upshot is that they are going to investigate with the previous chat agent, raise a formal complaint and get back to me.

So fingers crossed they actually commit to what 3 of their chat agents have said was possible but I'm not holding my breath.

Sounds like they invented that one just to get rid of you: I'm on Zero Fixed Oct 22 but my property is very much occupied.  Another poster was told it was only for military personnel, but I've always been in Civvy Street !

Result, just logged onto my account and got a nice surprise:
Did you have to go on live chat to chase it? I think the 28 days timescale they gave me takes me to middle of this coming week so if not done by then guess I’ll be back on live chat! (I’ve just checked mine and still showing the expensive tariff they initially switched me to).
Yes I had to raise a formal complaint and make one heck of a fuss, threatened court, the ombudsman, took about two weeks of arguing.
  • I’ve just failed at the final hurdle to get on to it after weeks of being promised I was about to be switched from a horrendous one (Home Energy Secure Jan 2024) that I had to sign up to for the initial switch prior to getting the Neon Reef notification.

I think what had happened was that there was the Neon Reef SOLR account for me set up (though I never actually was switched through that way) along with the one created by me for the switch. It seemed that some agent had initially switched the SOLR account to Zero Fixed however it wasn’t ever tied to me/property as the one with the horrendous tariff was the live account. Last week the switch was escalated to some team who deal with unpicking this sort of thing and they must have spotted that I wasn’t really eligible and the brick wall went up.
Long web chat today with me mentioning verbal contracts and multiple agents confirming/accepting me for the Zero Fixed, I was repeatedly told it was no longer available and went round the circle again of that not being relevant. But…

… eventually though I was offered (and accepted and can see it on my web but not app account a few minutes later) ‘Exclusive Fix Oct 22v2’. (There’s a more expensive v3.) As far as I can tell this will be cheaper for me as the electricity units are 17.738 pkwh inc VAT and the standing charge is 21.281 per day inc VAT. It won’t take long each day to have covered the difference in standing charge and be taking advantage of the lower unit charges. Even better is that the agent stated I could move my gas from EDF (Zog SOLR) to this tariff - got to actually get that done somehow as the website just says you’ll be better of staying where you are - as it’s 3.383 pkwh vs 4.010 and 14.667p standing vs 26.12 per day. I’m going to believe an agent again lol.

Nice silver lining I think after an initial panic!

Interesting,,,,that October exclusive fix v2 also works out cheaper for me than the Zero Fixed by c£40pa. Is this another no longer available tariff that they only agreed to switch you to because they wouldn’t or couldn’t fulfil the switch to Zero Fixed?

The agent was consistent and repeatedly said he couldn’t switch me to the Zero Fixed. I had a slight feeling of there must be a catch and asked him to tell me the differences between this one and Zero Fixed and he said the tariff is not available and hence he wouldn’t be able to get the difference.
It feels like there is now a difference between something they’ll switch you to versus something the cannot switch you to.
I did see someone made it onto Zero Fixed as of today on another thread, but I felt at the time this was an offer not to refuse.
I’ve been given the v2 versus v3 so it must be some sort of gesture of some sort as v3 is definitely a bit more expensive, and v2 for me felt cheaper when put on the spot rather than doing some big calculation.
Now to get the sales folk on the line tomorrow first thing for my gas!

I was told categorically that switching to Zero Fixed October 2022 was impossible and could not be done, and yet it's happened. So to be perfectly honest I don't believe anything they say any more.

I get slightly different rates for the Exclusive fixed Oct 22 v2 if I look up tariff info on BG website but may be because of my region and I selected monthly DD. Only slightly different, still c£35 pa cheaper than Zero Fixed but the latter has no exit charge versus the £30 for Exclusive Fixed. Can’t see me switching pre October though unless dramatic change in energy prices. Also checked the v3 and it only works out a few pounds different than v2 for me for both elec and gas based on my useage.

Must be the region - I’m in Edinburgh and have a fixed direct debit. I’ve double-checked the prices and they are as per what I typed yesterday. The tariff has now updated to the app and smart meter display as of mid morning.

Still to get the back-dating but am told it’s been sent to the relevant team as I was promised it yesterday.

Tried to phone to get the gas switched but gave up after an hour in a queue !!!!!! as I had things to do. Will try again in a bit.
