Hi all , So as long as I open a reward account before close date and haven’t switched before I qualify? Doesn’t matter if i already got Halifax account from what I read correctly

The 500 pound spend can putting money into funds count ?

I've just opened an account, as long as you've not had a switch incentive since April 2020 you're good to go.
The putting money into a fund is ok as long as it's a debit card payment from your Halifax account, bank transfers, DD's or SO's don't count towards the £500 spend.
To benefit from the reward each month you also need to pay in £1500 each month and stay in credit. You can in and out the £1500 no need to keep it there. I just pay in £1500 each month but take £1000 straight back out again. The £500 is obviously left in to meet the monthly spend requirements.
You don't have to do any of the above to keep the account but make sure you do at least meet the min £1500 pay in or you have to pay the £3 account fee per month.
Thank you, That really helps :)

My switch is scheduled to complete on the 16th, from RBS.
However, after checking the Halifax account, there are three DDs listed that are not associated with the RBS account, nor are they active anywhere!
    1. Talkmobile, not a customer or have been.
    2. Octopus Energy, left them over a year ago.
    3. Paypal. I do have a RBS DD set up but not the reference showing in Halifax.
Phoned Halifax yesterday only to discover their "switching team" are closed at weekends. C.S. couldn't help because I need to contact the closed switching team!
CS advised there are no DDs in my Halifax account. Oh yes there are, I am looking at the list right now.
Two listed DDs are legit - BT and Severn Trent.
No option to cancel them either in the Halifax app. or online log in. Which may be done with both Lloyds and RBS.
It’s strange that you can’t because Halifax uses the same IT systems as Lloyds, with a different skin. Virtually all banks should have the facility to cancel direct debits remotely, but perhaps the switch process is preventing interference. Unfortunately there isn’t much you can do until after the weekend if CS also cannot see any DDs on their systems.

I suspect, as you suggest, it must be because of the in progress switching process.
I logged in this morning and was able to cancel the "rogue" DDs.
It still doesn't alter the fact that those DDs were listed because the switch is only intended to transfer "active" DDs (their words). Also the P/pal and Talkmobile were totally out of nowhere.
I can't see any requirement to keep the account for any period, unless I've missed that?
Looks like another switch elsewhere this week!
In the meantime the valid DDs will be transferred to my main account, after the completed switch.

Super quick payout with this my 4th Reward account.
4th Reward account?? Not Ultimate Reward? I have 3 Reward accounts already so I just opened Ultimate and will downgrade it a couple days later.
    Regular Reward account.

Another 123Lite next, those Tesco accounts have to be put to good use.
Why would you want another 123 Lite?
Sorry, not Another, but a switch to an existing 123L though has to be done in branch.

The thread about the Santander switching offer includes a phone number via which switches can be made into existing accounts, even though the published terms say it has to be done in branch - I've done this by phone myself.

Thanks for that, switch now in progress.
  • Just wanted to thank members who advised worth trying to open a second reward account. Application excepted, switch due Monday, on course for first £5 reward and £125 already in the account.

    Cheers
  • My Switch from Nationwide to Halifax was completed today. I've received an SMS from them stating that the switch is completed. Logging into Halifax account I can see the £125 incentive in the account but is missing the money I had in the Nationwide account. Does it take some time to show the money from the old account? Should I call them now?

Was the switch originally scheduled to complete today, 22/11/2021?
Can you still access your Nationwide account?

Yes, the switch was scheduled to complete today (22/11/2021).
Accessing Nationwide through the mobile app doesn't show any account available. It's like I don't have a Nationwide account, supposed it's already closed.
