I applied for the switch on Friday and the bonus has just been paid today, with the switch due to complete on Tuesday next week.

Definitely the easiest and fastest switch (as an existing current account customer so the new account opened instantly). No DD requirements and no commitment requirement to keep the account (e.g. if you can’t meet the Reward conditions), although I’m definitely keeping this account.
  • Does anyone know if the £500 monthly spend for the monthly reward MUST be spending via debit card, or can this £500 spend instead be through a direct debit e.g, paying off a credit card statement monthly?

Only spending with the debit card will count. Direct Debits do not count. Paying some or all of a credit card with your debit card is presently considered as 'spending' by Halifax.
  • Hi all , So as long as I open a reward account before close date and haven’t switched before I qualify? Doesn’t matter if i already got Halifax account from what I read correctly

The 500 pound spend can putting money into funds count ?

I've just opened an account, as long as you've not had a switch incentive since April 2020 you're good to go.
The putting money into a fund is ok as long as it's a debit card payment from your Halifax account, bank transfers, DD's or SO's don't count towards the £500 spend.
To benefit from the reward each month you also need to pay in £1500 each month and stay in credit. You can in and out the £1500 no need to keep it there. I just pay in £1500 each month but take £1000 straight back out again. The £500 is obviously left in to meet the monthly spend requirements.
You don't have to do any of the above to keep the account but make sure you do at least meet the min £1500 pay in or you have to pay the £3 account fee per month.

My switch is scheduled to complete on the 16th, from RBS.
However, after checking the Halifax account, there are three DDs listed that are not associated with the RBS account, nor are they active anywhere!
    1. Talkmobile, not a customer or have been.
    2. Octopus Energy, left them over a year ago.
    3. Paypal. I do have a RBS DD set up but not the reference showing in Halifax.
Phoned Halifax yesterday only to discover their "switching team" are closed at weekends. C.S. couldn't help because I need to contact the closed switching team!
CS advised there are no DDs in my Halifax account. Oh yes there are, I am looking at the list right now.
Two listed DDs are legit - BT and Severn Trent.
No option to cancel them either in the Halifax app. or online log in. Which may be done with both Lloyds and RBS.

It’s strange that you can’t because Halifax uses the same IT systems as Lloyds, with a different skin. Virtually all banks should have the facility to cancel direct debits remotely, but perhaps the switch process is preventing interference. Unfortunately there isn’t much you can do until after the weekend if CS also cannot see any DDs on their systems.

Super quick payout with this my 4th Reward account.

Applied 5th, with a switch completion request date of 12th, account available online immediately. £1500 credited/removed + £500 debit card spend to myself on the 10th, £125 credited later on the 10th, switch complete by 12th as requested.

    A very simple/easy way to earn £125 + another £60 annual reward.

123Lite next, those Tesco accounts have to be put to good use.

Why would you want another 123 Lite?

4th Reward account?? Not Ultimate Reward? I have 3 Reward accounts already so I just opened Ultimate and will downgrade it a couple days later.
