  • Same experience when I switched. Bribe credited the day before completion. £125 pocketed and now switched the Halifax account to NatWest for their £100. That bribe is nowhere near as straightforward though!

I finally managed to get the switch sorted! I spent most of the day calling Halifax and eventually got through. Apparently some devices have issues... not sure why neither my phone nor my laptop liked the Halifax site, but I got it sorted over the phone and due to switch 10th Dec :)

With the reward payment my account certainly won't be switching, the equivalent interest of 1.2% is better than anywhere else for instant access savings.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

I probably can't meet the requirements for the reward anyway.
I might have tried but my further switch to NatWest was because they  (Halifax) made a hash of the Direct Debits transfer from the donor account!
The £100 is an unplanned extra.

If you have two Halifax Reward accounts, can the £1500 deposit be a transfer from the other Reward account?
Or does it need to be from a non-Halifax account?

You can transfer from one Halifax account to another.
I have 3 Reward accounts and recycle the same £1500 from account 1 to account 2 to account 3 every month.

In the past during morning working hours I used the overdraft of one reward to pay the needed deposit amount into another reward account.
Then put the 1500 back where it came from in seconds .
Bounced the deposit across all 4 reward accounts.

Havent done it recently now its 1500 but it worked previously so could still be a option .
    • You can even do several smaller amounts if you like, eg £500 moved in and out each account 3 times.

Currently have 1 Halifax Reward account, been with Halifax for around 10 years and never had a switching bonus. Looking to switch my HSBC over to a second Halifax Reward.
Do I do this logged in or logged out as when I tried when logged in it showed my existing account and looked like it would switch the HSBC to my existing account?
Also, how does this work logging in once I have a second account, do I have to have different logins and passwords for each Reward account online and on the app or do they both show when I log into Halifax?  When do I need to decide which reward and option I want?

Opening a new account and switching an account are two separate processes. If you're trying to switch your HSBC account without applying for a new one first  then the only account available to switch to is your existing account, you need to apply for a new account first. During or after the application process you can then start the switch process to your new account. Log in first before you apply, it should pre-fill most of the application forms for you.

Logging in afterwards is exactly the same as usual and will show both reward accounts along with any other savings accounts etc. that you have.
You can choose your reward at any time of your choosing.
