  • I have tried to initiate the switch today. Next available switch date is a week Tuesday (21st) which of course is after the 14th. Do I just need to initiate the switch ahead of 14th or the switch needs completing by this date? Cheers.

  • Ahh I nearly got caught out there. I was just about to start the process but I'd totally missed the bit where it said

    NEW ACCOUNT.

    I've maxed out at 1 solo account & 1 joint one. Wife has 1 solo account and obviously the joint one.

    So looks like game over for us.

    My switch has completed today, payment not yet received but hopefully soon
    Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

    My switch also completed today, and I received my payment 8/12/21. I had met the funding requirement prior to that date though 
    Save £12k in 2022 #54 reporting for duty

    That's interesting. I'd met the funding requirement, actually received the £5 reward payment into the account today which proves that funding was ok.

    EDIT - spoke with them today and I'd not remembered a switch incentive from last year. Never mind, at least I now have another Reward account earning £5 per month!

    Probably not relevant in this case, but worth noting as a detail that may come up in future switch offers - if you ask for a switch to take place on a date later than the earliest possible date the switch process doesn't start immediately, the bank being switched to will hold the request until 7 days before the switch date, then start processing it.
    So one interpretation of "start the switch service by 14/12/21" might be that the switch also has to be completed by 14/12 +7.... a switch requested by the customer on 13/12 for completion on (say) 23/12 might fail to meet the requirement to "start the switch service" if the bank deems that to be the date when the CASS process starts, rather than the date on which the customer makes the request.
    If there appears to be ambiguity in the T&Cs it would be safer to make sure the switch is requested for completion on the earliest possible date, or otherwise well before the end of the offer.

    Bonus not yet received, 3 days after switch completed so will contact today. I can't see anything I've missed and have already received the £5 reward for the account for Nov although opened at the end of the month.

    Yep, really. Deadline has passed.

    It said new account. I'm maxed out on existing accounts so therefore I don't (or didn't) qualify as they're old, not new.

    So wasn't available to me.
