There's another update on https://www.edfenergy.com/content/welcoming-utility-point-customers dated yesterday (14 Dec)
It starts "We've commenced generating final closing account statements for former Utility Point customers" whereas before it said "We're currently working with Utility Point in Administration to generate a final closing account statement for your Utility Point account to be sent to you."
There's also more detail about different situations re customers who left pre 18th Sep, post 18th Sep, and still with EDF.
No specific timescales though, "this will take some time so please bear with us".
My Electricity transfer is still at stage 3 of 4, so I guess I won't get a final UP bill until after that completes.
Todays update seems to contradict the december 13th update i.e.

    today :
    • If you've decided to join another supplier after 18 September — we'll still transfer your balance across to us. If you're in credit we'll issue you a cheque for the credit amount shown on your final closing account statement

whereas the december 13th update which I thankfully saved to a pdf file said balances would only be transferred for customers still with them

This is quite annoying as apparently I now have the hassle of having to set up a temporary EDF account ( which they have not done so far in my case )
  • Todays update seems to contradict the december 13th update
The 13 December update is still there on the web-page, if you scroll down to the bottom of the latest update, and click on the text 'Read more' at the bottom left.
The latest update (14 Dec) seems to imply that for both categories of non-EDF customers (pre 18 Sep and post) EDF will issue a cheque for any credit balance. It doesn't seem to require any action by such customers to create an EDF account.

I was interpreting "we'll still transfer your balance across to us." as meaning I needed an EDF account but maybe the way you are reading it is correct & I hope thats the correct interpretation

I guess we will see in the next few weeks
  • I agree it's ambiguous what they mean by "account".
Hopefully it's just a balance of money that they associate with you, and that they'll send you a cheque for without needing any action from you.
But "account" can also mean username/password - I guess setting this up would give more visibility of any progress before the cheque arrives, but it shouldn't be necessary to receive the cheque.
  • The account they mean is a dummy account on their system which will allow the credit to be transferred and a cheque to be sent out.
  • My electricity transfer finally went to stage 4 (Switch complete) last weekend, so I'm not expecting much more from EDF at this stage.
I understand that as I'm on EDF's Budget Direct Debit (Monthly) plan I won't get my first EDF bill until 6 months from my EDF account start date, so that will be late May 2022.
So the next bit of progress should be from UP, but they aren't publishing any kind of updates on their website.
The change of tariff to "EDF Welcome_DD" at the start of December was one sign of UP progress. And then today, when I went in my UP account to the "Submit a Meter Read" area, the whole Gas part is gone.
I had taken a screen-shot of the old gas readings, so that's not a problem, but hopefully it is a sign of progress.
If the Electricity readings part disappears too, hopefully before too long, then I guess that's a sign that the final UP bill is close.
  • I've just looked and mine is now stage 4 also. First EDF DD due to be taken tomorrow.

Same experience here, I too noticed all the gas readings etc missing last night. My EDF account showed the electricity element complete last Saturday, exactly a fortnight after the gas moved from stage 3 to stage 4.

I see from other threads that some ex-UP customers can see final bills on the UP site so it does look as though things are slowly moving in the right direction.
  • The electricity readings part of my UP account disappeared a few days ago, and then this morning I received an email from UP (only the second since they went into administration) saying my closing statement is now available. I've downloaded it from my UP online account and so far it looks ok.
I still have a chunk of credit left with UP, and the email says "any credit/debt balance that is shown on your final closing account statement will soon be transferred to your EDF account ", so hopefully, in a few more days, the whole process will be done for me.

Same here, though my email came yesterday.

Impressively accurate estimated meter readings too. The worst being an underestimate of electricity units by 20 kWh on 30 September, so higher capped rate paid on them.

My actual debit carried forward is just 67p worse than my calculations based on actual readings. Luck rather than judgement, I expect, but pleasing nonetheless.
