More good news! My Edf transfer is now complete. All I want now is my £162 credit transferred less the few days owed to UP.

Logged in to the account this morning and got yet ANOTHER request for a reading! 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 Still says the “switch” is due today though so we’ll see if I transfer to Stage 4 once they’ve processed the reading.

  • Another update today (7 December) on https://www.edfenergy.com/content/welcoming-utility-point-customers
"The majority of former Utility Point customers have now commenced their migration."
Given that the previous update on 2 December said "Over 99% of former Utility Point customer accounts have started their transfer to EDF. " this doesn't seem like much of an update!
Everything else seems identical to the previous update, re previous UP bills, new EDF direct debits, and ongoing work to generate UP final closing account statements.

My EDF account is showing I have completed my transfer for Gas (stage 4 of 4), but my Electricity transfer is still at stage 3 of 4, though it says "You have already submitted a meter reading. Thanks", which differs from the  "Unfortunately we didn’t receive your meter reading in time." it was saying 3 days ago.
My UP account is still pretty much identical to 3 months ago, apart from the tariff name change.

Third, how many payments are leaving my bank on the 1st of January? Going by that email, £36 and £86.

It might be worth going into your EDF account on their web-site, then going to "My bills and payments", and looking under the heading "Coming up" - on my account that gives a better preview of what is going to be taken rather than the emails.
Clicking on "My Direct Debit", on the other hand, gives an error "Sorry, we're having technical issues"!

That's telling me £86 on 01/01/2022.  They could have made their email a little clearer.
I wouldn't rely on that. It might be based on an assumption that the first ones are already "accounted for".

My schedule has three in December. A £26 just claimed today for one fuel, a £19 on 7th for the other fuel then a £45 payment for both combined on 20th

I've had a chat with EDF on the phone and they have told me only one payment will be collected, and that will be on 01/01/2022 for £86.00.
Not confident with the responses from EDF's offshore call centre, I called them again today.  And I'm sort of glad I did, but somewhat frustrated at the same time!
I've been told that they will be collecting £86 on the 16th of this month, followed by regular payments on the 1st of each month.  So that's around £170 to EDF in the space of nearly two weeks!
But at least I won't get any nasty surprises on the 16th of this month, albeit at my expense.  However, I would be lying if I said I was chuffed about having to coughing up so much money within such a short window of time, especially at this time of year.
Asking about my credit from Utility Point, I was told it could be two months after the switch date to EDF.  So I'm potentially getting any refunds due by February.
I'd be grateful if anybody knew how to contact EDF's UK-based agents.  Their offshore staff hardly fill with me confidence, especially having receiving mixed advice from them recently.
  • If your direct debit date is 1st of the month then when it was set up it would have been too short notice to do 1st December which is why it’s  the 16th, earliest date after 1st allowing for notice period
  • On the subject of direct debts, I'd love to know where EDF get the data to set the DD amount. Mine is set at £45 per month, with £90 taken this month.

By my reckoning, even assuming the UP credit I will have when they produce their final bill is taken into account, by 31 March 2022 I will have a debit balance in the region of £380.

They say they only review DD amounts twice yearly, and bill at the same frequency. Whilst I'm more than happy to owe them this, and presumably face a far higher DD when they assess it, I can see many less numerate customers being lulled into a false sense of security and having a big shock further down the line.
  • My Gas and Electricity accounts have now transferred, and I was able to transfer to a Direct Debit based tariff this week (as I'd cancelled my old UP one).

My first bill seems to run from 10th November (not September when UP failed)

Has anyone yet seen any closing UP statement, or indication of what credit from UP is being carried over to EDF?

I'm assuming (based on the bill above) I'll eventually get a UP closing statement to 9th November utilising my credit and stating what remaining credit is carried over to EDF.
  • I’m still stuck at stage 3, but my DD is now showing on my EDF account with the due date.

That later than expected transfer date is good news though - I’ll take a bit of extra time on my UP rate, thank you! 😊
