Missyg - it is entirely healthy and normal to put on weight during the day, from liquid and food. I put on 3lbs. It's best to only weigh max once a day, what ever time of day it is and then you are comparing like with like and weight loss is relative.

.........likewise, it's not unusual for me to be 4-5 lbs heavier at the end of a normal, good day than at the start. Where it miraculously goes overnight I don't know (but I know where a fair amount of it goes in the morning)

My fish and chips is a treat for my DD and myself on Friday evening after a long hard week and as much as i want to get healthier i still want to enjoy my food and not deprive myself.

I have cut out alot of other things such as sugar and salt, drink no caffine (apart from diet coke).

Well i am determined so thank you for all your kind words of advice and support.

Sweet1, it is importatnt to do this in a way that suits you. And you are right to ensure you don't feel deprived. Hopefully with the changes you are making will still make a difference,. And better to lose slowly in a way you can sustain, than quicker in a way that you can't long term. Can't help you with exercise ideas - not a feature of my life. But folks here seem to 'enjoy' steppers (you can do it while watching TV etc) and getting pedometers and upping the amount of walking they do
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

I did consider lighter than life or cambridge but apart from the financial aspect i enjoy food too much (not in terms of over indulgence) cooking and eating......

A colleague of mins has lost half his body weight in about 5 months but he was a big guy

A friend of mine did LighterLife and lost the weight, but within 3 months of eating food again (and she was NOT over eating) she had all the pounds back, and they brought all their friends and relations with them!

She has moved away now but she was doing reasonably well going to Rosemary Conley's class

    Hello Lovely Peeps:hello:

Lilac I was sorry to read about your experience at the initial weigh in, but I'm sure that you'll soon get the hang of things with the SW stuff as loads of folk here will be able to give you extra guidance and helpful tips. I went to a WW group on my own, and felt totally alone, as you said everyone else went in pairs, if they can't do it alone then they weren't determined enough in my eyes, to want to lose weight in the first place. I'll be smug though and say that I reached my goal weight far quicker than any of them and with no gains on the way :D pity I put it back on eventually :o UNLIKE THIS TIME...

...As I couldn't find a link to get a free diary this year I've had to fork out a few pounds for one, but it's money well spent in view of the help that I found it gave me throughout last year in keeping a food diary. It's a nice bright pink one with loads of space so that I can make notes of the helpful tips that I find on here, I've saved lots of them onto ol' lappy, but it will be easier to keep them handy in the book. I've been browsing through my old diary, so for all you lovely new folk I'll just mention that when I first weighed in on 8th Jan 2007 my weght was 160 lbs :o with a BMI of 28.3, when I weighed myself 7th Jan 2008 I was 102.6 lbs BMI 18.2, this is just 0.2 lb over my pre Christmas weight (better be off by next week!!). When you first commence your weight loss journey it does appear quite daunting, but the year seems to have flown by and I feel so much better than I did this time last year, it was worth every bit of will power. So please don't give up if you have a few bad days, stay with us, and then I can read your success stories:j ...

...I too have been trying to decide of a margin for maintence, I'm thinking that a +/- 3 lbs of a particular weight will be a good idea, but silly, stupid me can't decide what that weight should be  ...

...Having quorn chilli for dinner tonight, all the family prefer it to minced beef. That is a nother good thing that came from this group, from never having had quorn before it is now a regular item on the food list. Surprisingly that it came from our resident perv :rotfl: >>>>

Don't you basically live on water with Lighter Life for a while? 5 gallons of water and one of their choc bars for £40 or whatever? :)

Petrichor, you KNOW Quorn rocks :)

It turns out that the 100% focus and being obsessed is worth it because the 5lb xmas gain has gone, all gone, worth it me thinks:D back to a 0 on the end of the stone instead of plus 5, sorted.;)
