Victory, Suggs - Hmm OK maybe 7lb is too much leeway then. Suggs, if you've been told +/-4lb then my suggested bracket might be more like +/-2lb which leaves me NO leeway, in fact I can go over that just during the course of a day (which I assumed was fairly normal but perhaps it isn't). What would you guys suggest for me as a bracket around my current weight of 8st 3.5lb? I want the upper and lower limits set so that I never go outside of them, no matter what time of day or night (or TOTM) I weigh. Please don't be lenient, I want to know what you think is a good, STRICT bracket.

Missyg...Sorry I think my workings are different to yours...7lbs sounded great as I put your weight in the middle...so technically 3.5lbs either way....

    Hi all,

I wanna lose weight but not sure which plan to go for i was looking at swimming world as i have done it before and i think it is relatively easy. Was just gonna join so that i get the books then just follow it at home. I was looking to get Davina Mcall workout DVD any recommendations.

I have underactive thyroids so the weight is just piling on.

Sweet1, if you think it's relatively easy and it works then it probably suits you. However, if that ease will lead to complacency (and only you know that) then I'd recommend trying something you'd have to think more about. Thikiing focuses the mind on the job in hand.

    Hi Ajax

I only meant easy in terms of following the plan, (Green days, red days) not in terms of sticking to it.

Thank you :D That was what I meant at first, 3.5lb either way (never under 8 stone, never over 8½ stone) not 7lb either way (eek!) :rotfl: I think I may have misunderstood Suggs and Victory too in that case :o

Apologies for any confusion - thank you Serendisglair.

Ah right. Nothing is easy to stick to. That's why it's a challenge we have to beat and the reason we all need support. If it was easy to do we wouldn't be fat in the first place :)

There's a mixture of SW/WW and others on here... why not say your favourite foods and people may have ideas as to what may suit you?

    Ok so here goes!!!

Although i like savoury foods, Not really into cakes etc..... my down fall is sweets, biscuits and crisps.

I enjoy cooking and cook an evening meal most evenings Sun - Thurs. Fri is fish and chips night and Saturday is also a takeaway day unless i am not busy with house hold chores and shopping etc then i will cook on Saturdays too.

I think my main problem is portion size and probably mixing the wrong combination of foods that and my underactive thyroid.

i am not active at all I do not like the gym but would attend classes but have childcare issues which is why i was looking into workout DVD's.

So any tips, help etc would be most appreciated, it also doesn't help that i am 5' 3

Hi I've got my first weigh in tom morn and I don't think it's looking good! I've been good during the day with homemade veg soup, making my own bread for sarnies, can't go without bread! Good evening meal. Only prob is this week I have eaten all the kids selection boxes!!! (They only got little ones!) Not all of them just what was left. They don't eat much chocolate and because I knew it was there, H offshore so noone to say ' Oi what you doing!!!! Anyway, if I stay the same then I will be happy. Good luck everyone on your way ins too.
Need to sort my life out! :T
  • Sweet1 How old are the kiddies?
Use them as your gym! take them to the park and have races...dance round the living room etc....

I guess the easiest way for you to start is to start choosing healthier alternatives to your current vices...if you can't replace them with fruit or veg (carrot sticks and hummous dip...mmm...) then go for better alternatives baked crisps instead of normal or go for smaller fun size packets. If you want to stick to a plan then SW might be the one for you as i think it's easier to accomodate cooking from scratch.

You know you have an under active thyroid but hopefully once you have your meds sorted your metabolism will creep back to normal..

If portion wsize is a downside then have one week where you have a smaller plate and weigh everything...cereal portions look really pathetic when they are in the bowl! I used to have about 2 portions without even blinking!

    hope that helps
