BUT today I ended up picking up all the BOGOF's etc in order to save money in the future. We've now got a 10kg of Basmati Rice living in the hallway, 'cos it won't fit in the kitchen cupboards - I think I need a rethink.

FFM, I'm so glad we're in the same boat! And having exactly the same problems!!You're right, it has been easier not to pick up those extra goodies as the budget is constantly in your mind, but I have also found myself stocking up like crazy on offers! I am going to blow my GC budget this month  but I think it makes good economical sense in the long run. If it helps, tonight I went back to get some late night bargains (of which there were basically none!) and came away with 48 cartons of juice!! :rotfl:It was a planned buy as they're on offer (of course!:D) and it does make sense but I did look a little silly! Don't think I'l be heading back for late night reductions an time soon though; lesson learnt! In my boredom hanging around I did succumb to a couple of tiny treats too, so best stay out of the shops for a while now

Hi everyone. HannaB well done on your first weeks loss and well done to anyone else thats weighed today. I was a bit inventive with a ww macaroni cheese micro meal tonight by putting it in a dish with some extra mustard, some slices of mushroom that i sauteed in their own juice (and a bit of frylight) and then i added a little extra cheese and stuck it in the oven...MUCH more tasty than it usually is and only about 30 more kcals! Me and OH had it with a couple of slices of asda gfy garlic bread. Feeling much better about diet now and less hungry, just need to find someone to give my 2 tins of celebrations chocolates to so I don't eat them!!:D
LL you have overcome the first big hurdle and the only way is up, best of luck to you ((hugs)). SW is really good I lost 2.5 stone on it a few years ago (then had baby) but it was really good and once you get the hang of it, it's so easy to follow, and don't worry about the 'long road' you don't have to walk it alone because everyone here will help you!:j
Oh btw does anyone else use 'butter buds'?Goal weight....lighter than when I started0 -
LL panic not - you have taken the first steps to getting rid of that number! I got the shock of my life when I could finally stand on scales (minus bits of metal/plaster/bandages/crutches!) after my road accident to discover that in about a year I had piled on 14 stone!
Because of medication I am fighting a semi losing battle but I am determined not to be podgy for ever!Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

It isn't where I thought it was (lucky I rang first) and I need to get 2 buses, class starts at 6pm.
Will let you know later how it goes ............................... fingers crossed for now though!

Well done Lilac for your determination :j many others would have given up there and then, you deserve success :T ...when I catch up with the thread I hope to see that you have good results but if it's worse than you thought then 'hey so what' you are here with us :j - nice to meet you...
...vix loving the stuff re the bras, one of my aims (I prefer to call them aims rather than a resolutions) for this year is to get measured properly, so I've got enough time to build up the courage!!...
Trying to catch up with the thread ...
... but it's my anniversary on this thread, one year ago I found you all (few originals left - sadly for them, because I suppose they have continued to struggle, hopefully not) Suggs and Victory are about the only ones I can think of that are still here, so it just goes to show that if you stay with us then you do succeed if you want to...
xxxxI wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latterbut my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!

reporting a 2KG gain for the chart this week - not upset though as it's the firts post christmas weigh in. Just think if I had actually weighed myself on Christmas Day and NYD and posted THOSE gains today I could have posted a loss!
Happy anniversary Pet!
I thought your phraseology sounded familiar Pixie - OH's mum is a cub pack leader so we hear it a bit. She went to that big thing in London last year where the explorers were driving peter duncans convertible around the o2 arena - were any of your lot in that?
LL, WELL DONE you have far more determination than me - I would not have got on those 2 buses. Don't stress too much, Bails has given some very sesnible advice. I do SW online so don't do classes but I do find their mag invaluable - some really really good recipes in there and you don't have to think too hard because all the works done for you. The motivational articles are really good too.0 -
Victory, so I can't interest you in joining me with my 7lb of leeway maintain weight? In reality it's only about 2lb either way when you consider your lightest morning weight and heaviest evening weight... (assuming I'm not a freak by gaining up to 2-3lb between morning and night). You sound confident about tomorrow, have you had a sneaky weigh?
I don't have scales at home, they seem to become another obsession so threw them out;)
7lb lee-way is too much for me, I can maybe go to 3lb then that is it:D My H says I am wasting my life thinking of the scales numbers he is right but this is the first time that a year down the line (started Jan 4th) I am anywhere near the same weight, usally diet, loose, gain, diet loose, you get the idea:rotfl: :rotfl: this time I have a chance if I as my mother used to say to me'keep your mouth closed':rotfl: :rotfl:
Back later with the weigh in, H is hoping because otherwise I am going tobe impossible to live with and very moody:rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
LilacLillie You can do it, you will do it, because we're all here together helping each other.
Well done for going to the first meeting. Just take one day at a time, and if that's too much one hour or one minute. Don't think of the whole amount you want to lose or the whole time it's going to take.0 -
No, not a sneaky weigh in no, this morning will be the first since last tuesday it is just that the walking has been upped, the food, the hot lemon, the food diary writen again, the measurrements taken, the dedication to the cause has been vast this week:rotfl: :rotfl: , if there is any justice:D

Oddly enough my dietician suggest a + or - 4lb for me would be about right, but bear in mind I am probably double the weight of victory and missyg. Over the Christmas break with the sickness and then the overdoing things, my weight varid by around 8lb either way of my maintian at some point.
My new posh weigh scales, oddly say that the best time to weigh is in the evening?as it also measures body fat, it says that as your dehydrated in the morning it can give a false reading, however surely your weight is at it's lowest in the morning? Anways my body fat seems to be currently around 28% not sure if thats good or bad I dont know
Fingers crossed for your weigh in later victoryProud Member of the Lose Weight Thread on I Wanna..................

LilacLilie - Thank you for posting and big hugs to you... I'm sorry the weigh in was a bit of a shock. I hope you can use the experience for motivation rather than letting it get you down.
It really isn't such a long road, a lot of weight can come off in a year and although a year seems long, it isn't in terms of setting yourself up to be healthier for the rest of your life.
As you can see there are people who have been here a year, who have stuck with it and been incredibly successful! It would be great if that's you this time next year
4 stone in a year is a very achievable target, I know because I've lost almost 3 stone in 8 months and I've been losing it at a snail's pace compared to some on here!
If it all seems overwhelming, then make smaller changes at first, you don't need to radically overhaul everything from day one.
Haha Bails, I enjoyed your update about the grocery shopping! I'm trying to do only one grocery shop per month this year and do away with "top up" shopping completely by being more methodical about the whole thing. If I shop online, I like to set it up at least a week in advance, then fine tune it the day before. If I'm shopping in store, I quite often do the list online first (without booking a time slot), then I'll know what I'm spending and also I can print off my shopping list with the prices to take with me and try to make further savings when I get there.
Victory, Suggs - Hmm OK maybe 7lb is too much leeway then. Suggs, if you've been told +/-4lb then my suggested bracket might be more like +/-2lb which leaves me NO leeway, in fact I can go over that just during the course of a day (which I assumed was fairly normal but perhaps it isn't). What would you guys suggest for me as a bracket around my current weight of 8st 3.5lb? I want the upper and lower limits set so that I never go outside of them, no matter what time of day or night (or TOTM) I weigh. Please don't be lenient, I want to know what you think is a good, STRICT bracket.
Suggs, I'm currently weighing at noon, but thinking to change to the evening as it seems a bit of a cheat to weigh at a time when I know I'm not at my heaviest now that I'm maintaining (same issue as above with the daily gain). I have the posh scales tooand I've recorded 5 weeks worth of data but I have no idea how to interpret it against what my suitable levels should be, so if you manage to find a good/bad chart for fat, water & muscle please let me know! :rotfl: On mine, the muscle has increased slightly week on week which must be good, but the others show fluctuations.
Victory, please don't keep us in suspense! What time is your weigh? Got my fingers crossed for you.0
