My new posh weigh scales, oddly say that the best time to weigh is in the evening?
as it also measures body fat, it says that as your dehydrated in the morning it can give a false reading, however surely your weight is at it's lowest in the morning? Anways my body fat seems to be currently around 28% not sure if thats good or bad I dont know
Hi Suggs
We must have similar scales, I got mine for my B'day just before Christmas, with the same instructions/advice. I have always weighed myself first thing in the morning and have continued to do so - it seemed weird to weigh myself after eating and drinking all day.
My body fat comes up as 24.7% which is right for a female of my age (healthy range 23%-34%). For a male aged 40-59 the healthy range is 11%-22%. I got these figures from the photocopiable progress chart that came with the scales.

not masses but a litlle every week and i'll be slim in not time!! well for when we get a new uniform in work
... jillie, a pound a week every week is the perfect loss. It's sustainable and it's healthy. Good work!0 -
Suggs, I'm currently weighing at noon, but thinking to change to the evening as it seems a bit of a cheat to weigh at a time when I know I'm not at my heaviest now that I'm maintaining (same issue as above with the daily gain). I have the posh scales too
and I've recorded 5 weeks worth of data but I have no idea how to interpret it against what my suitable levels should be, so if you manage to find a good/bad chart for fat, water & muscle please let me know! :rotfl: On mine, the muscle has increased slightly week on week which must be good, but the others show fluctuations.
Hi Missyg
There was a progress chart supplied with my scales which summarise the healthy ranges.
You can also log on to their website to record your figures and there is lots of online info. Don't know if you need to register first, but the link to the body fat and physique rating charts is http://www.tanita.co.uk/consumer_bodyfatchart.cfm
I've only got 3 weeks of info and although I was disappointed to have my first 1lb gain for months, the scales indicated that this was muscle gain - which tied up with the fact that I had begun to use my stepper. All of the other readings have been relatively consistent.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Oh, Ajax I missed you! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Well done Victory on your 5lbs off! That just shows that if you really need to do it again, you now know how to do it! Fantastic.... as for bootcamp - I think Vic camp would be harder than Navy Seals training and know for sure I'd wimp out in the first 5 minutes....:D
Ok, had my WI today - and it's 0.5lbs ON! which I'm really pleased:j with. I know, if I'd posted my gain last week, I'd have shown a loss this week (like KPC) but I just can't be sure that my scales at home are all that accurate.
The competition -(my friend who I'm supposed to go to WW with but haven't been to a meeting together in about 6 weeks) put on 3.5lbs. I think she was competing with me to see who could put on the most weight over christmas.  Ha! I'm glad she won that one;)
Well done everyone who's lost weight this week, and welcome to all the new folks. I'm sorry I haven't welcomed you individually but there's just so many of you. I'll not be about much this week I don't think as I'm feeling a bit under the weather and quite tired.
Have a great week everyone.

I feel enormous relieve on behalf of your husband Victory :rotfl:
Well done delly - I'm really pleased for you. That shows that a little blow out is very rescuable becasue you are so focussed now.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Ajax, thanks for giving me a laugh - I needed it.
Sorry guys, not been on for a wee while, house was broken into at the weekend, drove home to an open door, some items in the road, and screaming kids in the back of the car! Was awful and they took my computer monitor - gutted I couldn't get on here! Not sorted out yet, but getting there and I can see others have a lot worse to contend with.
So on the weight loss front, not a lot to report, still eating more than I should. Total weight gain 3.5lb over xmas, so should change my sig, but won't yet - hope to lose it soon.
Take care all xxIf you don't have something nice to say don't bother saying anything at all.0 -
Hi all, Hope I can join in, Do I give a summary? Here goes anyway.....
32 year old Male.
20stone 11 lbs (dont know metric)
Started healthy eating 01-01-08
Biggest downfall; Bread, Fizzy pop.
Exercise; Play golf, Used to play alot of rugby, not now.
My target, Although I realise I will still be overweight even if (sorry, WHEN) I reach it but 3st off would be fab for me, No doubt Id re-asess then and go for more but if I can get below 18st Id be over the moon, No particular deadline but am pushing for May 13th.0 -

hey bluecorn, good to see you. Your story is a familiar one - I peaked at 19st 2.5 lb and am currently about three stone below that. The other regular (and I think original) bloke here, suggs, eclipses that by a mile though. I hope he doesn't mind if I copy his achievements from his signature here as it may impress you.
" Proud member of the Losing Weight threads on I wanna................

So now the hard work starts, trying to maintain the fantastic loss"
......so at night on 21 stone you are just a little fella really
What method are you using to lose the weight?
With so many of the females around, the conversation has been known to turn to anything from menstruation to handbags so we need more male input to be honest. Suggs is a rugby player and I play a bit of golf (but not in straight lines) so you're in good company.
Of course you can join in. This is the most supportive place you can be, and it must work because :-
- those who go off the rails always come back
- the target members stick around
- some of the weight losses are enormous
......there is a weekly chart produced every ... ummm... week, and we have a 5lb challenge - lose 5lb in a month.
EDIT: Hi to to broke mum of three also. YOu can weigh in whatever day you like but our week 'runs' from Wednesday to Wednesday, when the chart is produced.

My method? Well atm Ive not really got one.
As it was Id go work and have brekkie at about 1030, Bacon butties of course as I just cant eat before 10am, it makes me feel sick. Obviously I wasnt hungry at dinner so snacked at 2pm ish. Again, because of that time I wasnt hungry come tea time, So I ate at 8pm ish, Full meal.
Never drank water, Not beer drinker either tbh though, Just fizzy pops. Never ate fruit unless it was skittles but I have always worked manual and always up and about, I wouldnt class myself as a slob.
Now though since last tuesday Ive ate fruit for breakfast, Like a ham salad barm etc for lunch (at 12noon) and have tea like Spud or pasta at proper time too. Still not drinking enough water, Eating loads of fruit, Yoghurts etc. I am to step up the exercise bit and start jogging, more golf etc this week and going to still change what Im eating, ie, the salad barms will become brown bread etc, I dont take sugar, always have had the green milk but will change to red. My missus lost alot of weight last year and is now telling me to have a treat day, Ive got no intentions though of that, Ive not craved anything like the bacon etc Im determined to make this happen.
On tuesday last week 01-01-08 I weighed in and have had a long week before next weigh in, Im waiting til Saturday this week and then will go every Saturday from there on. Im soo curious if Ive lost anything.0
