    Hello everyone,
Well I am here for the same reason as everyone else, I WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT!
Since I gave up smoking (many years ago) it has been a constant battle keeping my weight down. Even with the weight gain over the years I still feel healthier ( breathing without wheezing is good!) but, as I get older it has become more and more difficult to lose the weight and I realise my health will suffer more ( high bp, aching limbs..the list could be endless  ) if I do not do something about it now!
As Ephmera said, 1lb a week does not seem too difficult, so that is the mind set I would like to get into.
Maybe like a lot of people here, I have tried, succeeded, and failed with many different 'diets' so I am not sure which path I am going to take on the venture, all suggestions gratefully received. Sorry, I have not been able to read every post here. Thanks to Suggs for starting this thread x
I am a vegetarian... the only fat one in the village ;) Any other rotund veggies here?
Well I will weigh myself in the morning and begin my journey along side you all :T

I have been ringing/emailing comapnies for cheap flat rentals in Spain for this years hols and the prices they are quoting are mad:rotfl: I WANT a holiday not to invest in the Spain:rotfl:

Went back to work yesterday and loved being there, oh the xmas hols are fab but prefer work and routine than slopping around the house and gaining weight:D

Can't wait to tuesday because I am so determined to get rid of the xmas gain, people keep telling me xmas gain is a false gain, let's hope so eh:D been straight back to it since Tuesday Jan 1st and I am drinking my own body weight in hot lemon:rotfl: :rotfl:

    Hey all,

Just celebrating the fact I had a good diet day yesterday, woooo! I have replaced my tea time plate (more like a platter) with a small cereal bowl to reduce my portion sizes. Okay it's strange to be eating pasta bake out of a bowl in the evening time (for me anyway), but I didn't feel over-full like I normally do. And I also had tea slightly later (about 7pm) so I don't end up feeling hungry before I go to bed and raid the fridge.

Bring on weigh day on Monday!

I got my extremely groovy scales from Dunelm. They are by hanson/hansen RRP £8! ha. They are so pink, on the box they look salmon coloured, but when you get them out its like woa! They go up to 19 stone. Only trouble with them is that i have trouble reading how many lbs i am, quite small.

But hey, id do most things for pink :D

I bought myself a 15p cadburys chocolate bar to have as a treat when i feel the urge to have some! its coming up to the TOTM so i know that craving will come soon.

Im with you there Hanna feeling hungry before bed. I had dinner at half 6 but then started feeling hungry at 11ish so hurried off to bed!
  • Hey Vix,
Hope your essay is going better. You are right when you say wiki is an unreliable source as everyone can write on it but it is also peer reviewed which is why I said it could be used as a platform. I tend to be able to get some good key phrases which narrow the journal searched down a lot more, you soon find out whats sound or not.
Might not work so well for businessy stuff tho...which is what it sounds like you're doing

does anyone else have brekkie then find they're starving when they get into work?

    Hey all!

My worst time for being hungry is either waiting for the evening meal before 6pm as Vix said, or much later at night (as I won't eat anything at all after the evening meal).

I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that this is going to be a way of life from now on though...! :D

I do eat later on in the evening if I am hungry - some dried apricots or raisins or other fruit. I don't think snacking, as such, is bad for you - it's just what we normally snack on which is bad!

That's true, efrieze. Time was that half a New York cheesecake was "snacking".:D

If you need something healthy and chocolate-y mid-morning (and mid afternoon), I have stumbled across Cadbury's Highlights Hot Chocoloate - Fudge flavour. Only 40 calories a cup. Yummy.

Morning all, I hope and trust all goes well??

Its my daughters 16h birthday tomorrow, So I am heading to Coventry later to take her out and give her her presents, Its mum's 65th as well tomorrow!! Timing or what!

Weightwise I think I have maintianed at a total loss of 160lb, which considering I have only gone to the gym twice since Christmas I am more than happy with :-)

Yes I am another snacker before bedtime, I can or tend not to eat straight away after the gym, and have a large dinner, but it still doesnt help. Last night I did rice pudding with skimmed milk in the slow cooker, very nice too :)

Only a quicky, phone ringing, back soon I hope
