actually this year has a number of 'big' birthdays in the blended family, there is 2 x 16's, 2 x 65's 1 x 18 and 1 x 40th (mine!) so just I might be alot older than you, but only in body, not in spirit :rotfl:
When is your big 4-0? I only have two weeks left in my thirties but I'm not bothered - it's only a number - it doesn't worry me at all at turning thirty ten.katiepoppycat wrote: »blimey you guys! I turn my back for a couple of days and you rack up 6 pages! Do you know how long it took to read 6 pages? ( i was scared of missing something good).
I know what you mean KPC - it took me all morning to catch up. Can't complain though - kept me out of the fridge!!!katiepoppycat wrote: »Just spent 4 days in Glasgow with friends- plenty of good food, good drink and a few little walks - We ended up on a muddy hill watching all the fireworks go off in Glasgow city centre, it was lovely!
I wish I had known you were in my neck of the woods - I could have given you a wave or you could have shown me your new boots in person - did you have them with you?
Anyway, better go now - need to get everything ready for going back to work tomorrow - back to a normal routine and hopefully back to better meals and some weight loss.0 -
Hope everyone had a great New Year. Ive been out of action for a few days. Had friends over on Hogmanay for the Bells & ended up staying up til 0240 not the best idea when I was starting work at 0630!!!
Between tiredness and the horrendous cold I have Im feeling pretty miserable.
I did however manage to sts this week at my wi so Im delighted with that
Hope everyone is having a good New Year and havent indulged too much0 -
Thanks for my accolade of slimmer of the fortnight. I was only thinking this afternoon that I had never achieved slimmer of the week or slimmer of the month despite the fact that I have lost virtually week on week since I joined the thread in May, half way through my journey. I guess it helps that I don't celebrate Christmas after all!
Big thanks to Brighton Belle for the chart and glad it was not too much trouble.0 -
:hello: Hello!
Any room left for a newcomer? I need to shift some weight as I start back to my old job tomorrow (very part time though) after a break of 2 years enforced by cfs/me, the inactivity this incurred meant I have put on nearly 2 stone and none of my old working clothes fit anymore!:o
I am hoping that chasing after the kids (I work at a school) will help with the weightloss!other than that it will be with healthy eating but small portions, avoiding the comfort eating and walking the dog a bit further each day. I did try sw last year but am trying to avoid artificial sweeteners for health reasons.
I weigh in at 11st 10 (used to be 9st 10 and am small boned).
OH got me the Paul mackenna cd so will try that as well.

Hi all & Happy New Year!
Is there room for a (not-so-) little one? I've been here before and done a big 360 and am back where I started but this year, I've decided, is going to be my year!!!

Thanks for the chart BB, and well done Efrieze
Ok... This is gonna be long post (for me anyway!) - I've finally worked out how/what I'm gonna be doing to lose this weight!
The scary bit (and the bit I don't admit to out loud): My current weight is 17 stone. Being only 5'4", this officially puts me into the "obese" catergory. According to the nice machine at Boots, the most I "should" weigh, in relation to my height, is 10st7lbs. I can't remember the last time I weighed that little! I definately don't think it's been in the last 5 years or so, probably longer than that to be honest. So, the over-all goal, is to lose a full 7st, to take me well into what counts as a "healthy" weight! Now, that's a scary thing to be looking at as the only goal (although huge well done's to the people on here who have lost this amount, I know there's a few of you!), so I've picked out a few things in my diary that I am going to use as targets. Not that anyone here needs to know, but these are:
- Uni trip to Berlin (end of Feb)
- Walking Weekend at Easter (end of March)
- End of uni year (end of May)
- Summer Hol (start of August)
I'm aiming at losing around 2lbs a week, so, in theory, by the time I go to Berlin on 18th Feb, in 7 weeks time, I will have lost 24lbs (including the 10lbs I've lost already). I'd really like to have lost a full 2st by then, so that's what I'm putting for the first target... Once I work out how that goes, I'll work out the whats/whens for the rest of them! In theory, if I can lose 2lbs every week, without any gains or maintains (yes, I know, I'm living in my own little dream world again!), I could have lost it all by this time next year!
I'm also going to go back to WW - I tried RC but it just wasn't working for me, and I know I've lost with WW before in the past. I won't be staying for the meetings, just WI and go again. I've found a group that meets round the corner from the uni, in my lunch break, so I'll be starting there on Tuesday.
Um... Nah, I think that was everything! Sorry for all the babble!**"Cheer up, it could get worse" - I cheered up, and look, it got worse!**0 -
Thanks for all the workings out brighton belle it is very much appreciated and thank you very much granny even my H is saying I am over-reacting:rotfl: :rotfl: I really take things out of context some times and this is def one of them;) all I feel is 5lb heavier, all I can see is it all coming back on, before you ask I ALREADY have done the calculations in weeks terms how long at 5lb gain a week it will take me to put the 5 stone and 7 lb I lost back on:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: who says I over react now?:rotfl: :rotfl:
Welcome to all the newbies, you can do it;)
pixiedust you live in your own dream world and make this year the year they all come true and be proud of each and every achievement and every dream that comes true xx

Hi folks,
Just a quick one as I'm off to bed in a minute.
Welcome newbies - stick with us and you might see an amazing weightloss this year! If nothing else, pull up a chair and have a moan, it's theraputic you know.
I'm glad everyone had a great couple of days. Thanks for doing the chart brighton belle. And thanks too for signing me up for the 5lb challenge - I forgot to ask you to do that for me.
Well done efrieze on SOTW - you'll soon be joining the other bods at the bottom of the chart as a maintainer. How great will that feel?
Tried restarting day 1 today and did well, stuck within my points but didn't manage to get out for a walk - it's blooming cold! I was hoping to give myself a bit of a kick start by sticking to 18 points this week, but had about 22. Not bad for the first day back counting again.
I have an appointment at the GP's tomorrow, my fortnightly blood pressure and pulse /weight check up because of the reductil. I'm sure I'll have weight on there too but don't care as I doubt they'll take me off if I've lost weight already, hopefully they'll see christmas as a blip.
Right, off to switch off the 0 point soup and get to bed.
