It’s not a change to the Flexible 6 tariff, it’s a whole new tariff called Flexible 7. Not sure if they need to inform you but they would mad not to because you could quickly go into debt with size of increase. I was notified early March of the change. Having said that, my meters are still showing the old tariff.
Looking at the domestic energy terms on their website it says if you are on a variable rate tariff and prices change or they make changes to the contract that disadvantage you then they will inform you at least 30 days in advance.

They did inform. I got an email from them on 23rd February with the full details.

@thevideoguy cheers mate. It's not a meter problem though. The meter was replaced 3 weeks before shell inherited account. They have billed me for energy used on this meter even though it was removed and all costs paid to green as part of greens final bill settlement. I notified shell as soon as I became aware that they were incorrectly billing me. They have rebilled as if the meter existed up to the date I informed them. Even though the meter had already been removed. They acknowledge this is incorrect but keep stalling. They've withdrawn the charges only to reinstate them by rebilling for this meter repetitively.
  • That is the same as me. They were billing against a meter ID that was replaced 18 months ago and using estimated readings based on that. The new meter went faulty, coincidentally it stopped working the day Green went under. Shell have now replaced that meter but are still not billing me correctly. They keep telling me the metering team are working on it. It has been going on since November last year.

@thevideoguy some progress today. It seems the mere threat (I gave them 7 days notice ) of a resolver complaint spurred them into action. They requested new reads this morning and have allegedly withdrawn the charges for the redundant meter. I can't access the bill they've generated yet as usual. I can see the total on shells app but the pdf of bill only becomes openable after about 48 hours. They have informed me my debt is now 148.11 so some charges have been reversed as it was incorrectly displaying as 605.08 this morning.

Update to above. At last 7 months after gaining my supply shell have got it right but boy did I have to keep on at them. I now have a deficit of 148.11 which is billed up to 22nd April so next payment of £160 will virtually cancel that out. If you have a problem with them keep hassling them. It seems my 7 day notification of a resolver complaint spurred them into action as this is the only time in 7 months they've gone to the trouble of issuing a replacement bill. Relieved this is over

So just set up online account and seems from 1 April I have been moved from Flexible 6 to Flexible April 2022 tariff which is more expensive than Flexible 7 as gas rates are 7.918p/kwh and SC 32.03p. This happened to anyone else or anyone know why this would be the case?  (My account is set up for ebilling and direct debits.)

I'm in North East Scotland, and was with Green Energy Limited till it went under in September 2021. My neighbours were with Avro which went down the same day. I was moved to Shell Energy, and have still to receive a correct bill. I've spoken to people in South Africa, Sarajevo, Leith and London so far.  Hate going through phone process as I get really annoyed at the initial preamble about driving  while on phone, and then the hugely annoying suggestions on how to cut back on electricity use ie upgrading to a more efficient fridge freezer. Doubly annoying as mine broke in February 2021, and now functions only as my fridge (with cool bag and ice blocks) outside my back door.

I did try to complain by email, and had a very snippy person phone me at a totally inconvenient time. I pointed that out, explained my queries from December still hadn't been answered, asked her to get somebody to read emails - and then get back to me with answers.  The email I got after that was bordering on rude, and I'm planning writing a proper letter of complaint to Shell Energy. Email said my queries had been answered/settled but they haven't. Among other things I've got bills with some Standing Charge at 26.09 p/day, and some at 26.10 p/day.

Email from Shell Energy on 23rd February informing me of price changes from 1st April.

    Flexibly 7 Electricity Only
    Increase  from 20.834p/kWh to 27.906p/kWh
Standing Charge per day change from 27.39p to 50.05p
    Prices include VAT at 5%.

Is there anybody else, in this part of the country, being charged roughly the same? I live on my own since my Mum died, and electricity usage had already gone down a lot since then. Not sure how much more I can do to cut back.

Everybody in North Scotland on a SVT will be paying the same. Except for some loyalty tariffs like Octopus which are slightly cheaper for the standing charge all suppliers will use the full limit of the CAP.

For example EDF charges 50.06p standing charge and  27.90p per KWh, so identical to Shell.
