    I am with Nat west and with them you’d need to check every day as dd won’t show up until the day. You have most of the day to cancel though (I think it’s 8pm but not certain).
    Even with NatWest you should be able to see a list of all active Direct Debit agreements on your account?

    For existing DDs yes.
    for new ones IME (been with NW 35 years) they don’t show up until the first day they are taken. You don’t get sight of it in advance,
    therefore if you want to cancel you’d need to check every day.

    you can cancel on the day and I believe it’s up to 8pm
    lisyloo - I'm not with NW but with my bank if I go into the list of DDs/SOs on my account it will show a new DD payee but without a payment value until the first payment is taken.
    Ok sure, but mine doesn’t and I believe the person said they were with NatWest, hence the warning that they might not be able to cancel in advance.
    It’s perfectly possible that different banks work differently.
    I'm sure the different banks offer different options.   Some do offer pending transactions too so you can see if a DD is about to hit your account within the next day or two.    It's a pain having to remember to check your account every day though.
    I did check it very recently for neon reef as they had gone bust and I was keen to cancel.
    I am pretty certain I didn’t see it until the day.
    you should know which day is going out though - I believe it’s a legal requirement for them to tell you. 
    I checked a few days before just put in case, but in theory you should just have to check on the day they’ve told you.

    This is all very strange as I set up a DD a month ago when they asked me to - I have their email confirmation of it being set up. Customer Services now tell me, in the meantime it got cancelled. Apparently they don't know why - it could be by my bank. Then I get another email yesterday saying "you don't need to do anything, your DD is being transferred from Green".

    I had this with Green initially so this might be the answer:
    You set up a DD mandate and Shell confirmed it in place, fine.
    The bank will have emailed Shell for them to confirm the DD on their behalf from your instruction; if they haven't "clicked to confirm" from your bank then your bank won't authorise the DD mandate to leave your account. Speak to Shell and point this out and see if that resolves the problem.

    Awaiting my Credit Cheque from Shell for balance from Green. Moved to Avro the day Green and Avro folded so never been a Shell customer. 

    Cheque requested by Facebook 9 days ago. Today my Green account only gives me access to my Bills.

    Should I see this as a positive sign or are others old Green Accounts only showing Bills?

  • Ive just opened my Green account and can only access the bills page, two bills showin but can’t access details for them, ‘view pdf’ button doesn’t do anything

    I've just checked and mine is the same (except no DD set up yet). I manage a couple of other accounts too, and exact same problem. Previously showing correct credit balance from Green, now changed to this "your account is nearly ready" and showing a minus figure in the balance instead. 

    Also can't get other pages to load and it came up an technical error, so obviously some gremlins in their system. 
    I now see this was a prelude to them sending out first bills, so the minus figure in the balance is correct after the charges for past 2-3 months have been applied. Now just need to set up a DD to pay it....
  • Great news, received a cheque yesterday for the final Green bill. One headache out of the way. 
  • Cheque received this morning from Shell Energy for balance owed from green.

    (Mid switch customer away from green completed 2nd Oct).

    Arrived in the post this morning.  Promised via Twitter too.  Very impressed with the service from Shell and would look to switch to them again in the future
