Got the same email (although I'm on normal rates). The Flexible 6 rates do appear to be better than what we were expecting, so I guess Ofgem have done a good deal there. It's about £200 better than I was expecting and virtually the same as the best supplier on the market for me right now (YMMV). Guess I'll stick around for a bit with them.
They're at the Ofgem price cap, so the highest they could be.
What is the Flexible October 2021 tariff then? For me that tariff is higher, but it's a SVR tariff.
Check the TIL - at the top it says it's Ofgem price capped. There's a mistake on Flexible October 2021 at the moment where the standard (pay on receipt) prices are showing up as the direct debit prices too - where they should be a few percent lower.
Ah ok - well I guess we can't expect anything better with wholesale prices what they are.

As shell have never come up as a viable cheaper supplier for my electricity, I've started a switch to e-on more on a fixed tariff with no exit fees, I'll wait till the market settles then decide if I switch again, the only concern I have is if I will get my £126 credit I have with Green back, I feel a small claim coming on.

Depends on your definition of "viable", I suppose. The fact that Shell have been considered stable enough to be appointed as a SoLR makes them sound viable to me.
  • I set up a switch to Sainsbury's at almost exactly the same time that it was announced that Green had gone bust (saw the news as soon as I finished the online switching process).
Still waiting to see exactly what happens, but I received an email yesterday saying
We've contacted your old electricity supplier and your switch to Sainsbury's Energy has been approved. We expect to start supplying you on 8th October
I won't assume anything for now, but it does look like it might go through.

Also been switched to the Flexible 6. Which appears to be Economy 7 but as per a previous poster, we were on Economy 10 equivalent with Green.

Any idea if we’ll get the 10 hours as per before or are we losing out by being switched?

I’ve messaged Shell customer service and been told that I will only have 7 hours off peak which isn’t ideal due to our situation - storage heaters in half the house and air source heat pump with underfloor heating in the other half.

I thought we would be switched to a like for like deal. Is that not the case?

I’m in the same position. I’ve tried twice to speak with the shell customer service and have got nowhere. Do I have to change my economy 10 meter? Do I get economy 10 at E7 rates? what will I be charged if I just do nothing and leave it? There are no answers.  It’s hopeless. Surely Ofgem would have thought about this before doing the deal with the SOLR?

If you've got a high-rate meter and a low-rate meter, and Shell put you on a dual-rate tariff, all you can do is put your meter readings into the relevant boxes and let them charge you based on those.

So they cater for Economy 7 then? Only sent through 1 rate...
  • Shell energy emailed me to confirm that they will be taking over my electricity supply but it’s now nearly mid October and my account is still not set up but the email I received from Shell says I will start paying the crazy high rates from 1st October. Doesn’t seem very fair that I can’t switch out whilst they take their sweet time to take over my account
