I'm guessing here but maybe Shell are planning to move Green customers to this October 2021 tariff and you will have to choose to switch to the default "Flexible 6" tariff to benefit from the Ofgem price cap. It's likely that during the switching process, which usually takes ages, we'll have no choice but to pay the inflated prices.
"You have been moved to the Flexible 6 variable tariff, which is Shell's standard tariff and follows the price cap."

Yeh.. I'm hoping they fix this soon and aren't trying to pull a fast one!0

Having been stitched up by Ofgem transferring me to Scottish Power, I have initiated a switch to e-on from green as I trust them more than other suppliers. Shell power have never been listed as a viable cost effective supplier, so I refuse to have anything to do with them. I've made a point of downloading all my Green energy details, credit balance etc, and expect some "aggro" doing the switch, and I won't accept losing my credit balance even if it means going to court, I'm totally p**sed off with how I've been treated by the energy companies and utterly disgusted by the totally useless Ofgem.1

I had an email from the MSE Energy Club today - Green has moved to Shell and the tariff is "Flexible 6". I had a look at the comparisons in the Energy Club and there's nothing coming up as a better deal. So I will stay with Shell and keep checking the deals available.

Got the same email (although I'm on normal rates). The Flexible 6 rates do appear to be better than what we were expecting, so I guess Ofgem have done a good deal there. It's about £200 better than I was expecting and virtually the same as the best supplier on the market for me right now (YMMV). Guess I'll stick around for a bit with them.0

Not what I'd call simplified!
Elec:
Green 15.78 p/kwh Standing Ch/ day 22.0
Shell 22.31 29.47
So a 34% increase in my Elec standing charge, and a 41% increase in my elec tariff
Gas:
Green 3.28 p/kwh Standing Ch/ day 22.0
Shell 4.396 30.78
So a 40% increase in my Gas standing charge, and a 34% increase in my gas tariff
My projection from Green was for an annual bill of £1360. I shudder to think what I'll be paying with Shell.
Elec:
Green 15.78 p/kwh Standing Ch/ day 22.0
Shell 21.18 24.86
So a 13% increase in my Elec standing charge, and a 34% increase in my elec tariff
Gas:
Green 3.28 p/kwh Standing Ch/ day 22.0
Shell 4.174 26.11
So a 18.6% increase in my Gas standing charge, and a 27% increase in my gas tariff
That means a £90.74 Elec standing charge, and a £95.30 Gas standing charge, so £186 total.
On last year's usage, this means a gas bill of £593 + £95 = £688.
And an electricity bill of £1014 + £91 = £1105.
So total energy bill of £1793.
On my current tariff (which was going up on Oct 1st anyway) I would have paid £1300.
So I'll be paying 38% more. Which isn't much different to what my Green tariff would have charged me after their planned price rise, which I was hoping to avoid by switching.
The MSE email says there are no cheaper tariffs out there at the moment, so looks like I'll be staying with Shell (and desperately keeping down my energy energy consumption).0 -
